From early childhood, the girl had the makings of an actor. From her youth, she and her sister attended the Krasny Shoehchik drama club at the Krasnaya Zvezda shoe factory, where she practiced acting.
Once the head of the drama club in one of the Moscow newspapers read an advertisement for an additional recruitment into the studio at the Central Theater of the Red Army. He suggested that Sazonova try to enter there. Sixteen-year-old Nina, despite the objections of her mother, went to Moscow.
There were several hundred people wishing to enter the studio, but only three had to be selected for study. Sazonova conquered the selection committee and was admitted to study.
Nina Afanasyevna was at the front. On the front line, in military units, hospitals, she gave concerts as part of a brigade. (For 4 years of the war – 3 thousand front-line concerts).
Three deaths
Twice she managed to escape from certain death! Thanks to the guardian angel!
The first case:
The brigade performed in one of the advanced units. A military man came for the actors, who was supposed to lead them through the forest to another part. But the road was mined, people were forced to follow the trail. Sazonova walked in the middle, but at one point she stumbled and stepped on an anti-tank mine.
The soldier commanded: “Stop, don’t move if you want to stay alive!” The actress stood on the mine for about an hour, while the soldier withdrew the brigade and returned with the sapper.
Second case:
In the summer of 1942, the concert brigade of the Red Army Theater was encircled near Kharkov. As a result of clashes with the Germans, many died, Sazonova and the colonel of the Red Army from the brigade managed to hide from enemies in a haystack.
German soldiers, combing the territory, checked the haystacks with a pitchfork. The officer was unlucky: he was pulled out of the haystack, but Nina was not seen.
The next morning, she got out of the haystack, then met an old woman, a local resident, who sheltered the girl. The next day, the old woman gave her country clothes and a rod with the words: “You say, the cow is lost.” The Germans met did not touch her.
The emaciated woman was picked up by Soviet scouts and crossed the front line. But she soon found herself in the hands of state security officials, who subjected her to harsh interrogations.
All this greatly influenced the mental health of the actress, later she was diagnosed with schizophrenia. Actress Nina Sazonova continued to work in the theater of the Soviet Army, in the late 1950s she began to actively act in films.
