Actress and screenwriter Laura Reznikova told how she saves a Christmas tree from cats

Actress Laura Reznikova has collected for Wday.ru ways to protect the main New Year’s symbol.

“On the first day of winter, I realized … It seems that this year, for the first time, I will be left without the pleasure of decorating the Christmas tree. My good Somali cats will give odds to the whole army of Somali pirates! ” – the cry of the soul, the star of the TV series “Witnesses” and “The Fifth Guard” published on her Instagram page on December 1.

The question is really serious. The actress has two Somali cats at home – Astra and Gagarin. Laura has not yet tried to celebrate the New Year with them, but she has no doubts: the mischievous kittens will ruin the Christmas tree. After all, they probably don’t walk on the ceiling.

The actress even asked her Instagram followers for advice – how to decorate a Christmas tree at home if you have playful cats? There are a lot of life hacks. Laura collected them all, analyzed them and tried them on for herself.

Mini-trees throughout the apartment

Small Christmas trees can be placed throughout the apartment, and you do not need to buy green mini-copies for this. There are now many wood, glass, plastic and even metal options. I recently visited a Christmas market and was amazed at the selection of table decorations made from unusual materials. There is only one “but” – if cats sin by throwing flower pots from window sills, then where is the guarantee that mini-trees will not fly around the apartment? It doesn’t seem to suit me, but it’s not a fact that it won’t suit you.

This idea impressed me a lot. Everything is ingenious and simple: to depict a silhouette of a Christmas tree on the wall. You can hang in the appropriate form photos or just a New Year’s garland. If the animals are already very curious, then buy a sticker in the form of a Christmas tree. The main thing is to choose one that can be easily removed from the wall surface. They certainly will not overturn her. You can cut out the outlines – or find ready-made ones – from cork, Whatman paper, gypsum panel.

I personally liked the version with a garland on the wall, hung so that the silhouette resembled a Christmas tree, but here I doubt that my Astra and Gagarin will bypass it. Not only does it rustle interestingly, it also burns and shimmers. If your cat is calmer, then please yourself with such beauty.

It looks nice when the silhouette of a Christmas tree on the wall is made of several thick branches, the lowest of which is as long as possible, and the top is short. But then again there is a possibility that a cat or a cat will start walking along this “ladder”.

There are odors that cats don’t like. This is subjective of course, so do the experiment first. If it is successful, then use a life hack. Veterinarians say that cats cannot stand the smell of citrus fruits. Therefore, you can try sprinkling your jewelry and toys with orange or lemon oil. Maybe then the cats will not encroach on this beauty. It’s not for nothing that cat scarers are sold with just such smells.

It’s even a pity that it is not customary for us to hang beautiful New Year’s wreaths outside the front door. This is so many advantages at once! Even a domestic cat will not touch them, and the owner creates a mood even before he comes home. Why not? After all, in the apartment you can hang the same decorations, on the doors and on the walls. It is not too difficult to make them even with your own hands; there are many master classes on the Internet.

Well, I made one conclusion for myself: the owners of such restless tomboy like mine, one salvation is to decorate the chandelier. The main thing is that it is not very low, otherwise the tinsel or toys attached to it will become easy prey for four-legged climbers. And you yourself will constantly touch. Here you need to understand how much you do not feel sorry for your chandelier, if that … Perhaps it is better to attach to the ceiling … a Christmas tree. Judging by the number of comments on my post with this option, it’s not so exotic.

And instead of a Christmas tree, you can use other accessories that you have at home. For example, I have a large candlestick in the shape of a street lamp: a dozen small Christmas tree balls can easily fit into it. I take balls of the same color, but different textures, matte and glossy, close the lid, and attach a bow on top. The candlestick is made of glass, so the toys are visible, but at the same time they are protected from cats.

– Enclose the tree with something like a playpen so that the cat cannot get close to it.

– Put the tree down and not decorate it for a while, give the cats time to get used to it.

– Do not use tinsel and rain – cats often eat them, and this is fraught with serious health problems.

– Wrap the tree trunk with foil – cats do not like to climb on it.

– Do not decorate the lower branches of the tree, or hang simpler toys on them so that the cat does not pay attention to them.
