Georgy Zhzhenov: biography
Georgy Stepanovich Zhzhenov – People’s Artist of the USSR, theater actor, cinema, writer, was born on March 22, 1915 (zodiac sign – Aries) in Petrograd, in a large peasant family.
His childhood was poor and joyless, as if he was trying to temper his character for the further hardest trials that fell to the lot of this man.
George’s mother, left without a husband with two sons, remarried. But the marriage turned out to be so unsuccessful that it did not bring anything except suffering for the whole family. The chosen one turned out to be a drinker, a very cruel person, and even a father of six children with many children.
For a long time this scoundrel mocked the whole family, until George and his brother finally grew up and gave a worthy rebuff to the unbelted bastard. So Grisha felt his strength and the ability to defend life principles, conscience, dignity and honor.
After graduating from the physics and mathematics school, the guy entered the Leningrad Variety and Circus School at the faculty of acrobatics. And everything would be fine, but the monstrous years of Stalinist repression, bullying and persecution have come.
Brother was taken first. No way, just like thousands of other innocent people. A little later it was Georgy Stepanovich’s turn to sip the cup of grief in full and for many years.
Guilty without guilt
The most terrible thing in the world is to be guilty without guilt and to be in places remote among animals and scoundrels just like that, by someone’s evil will.
For a long time, George could not believe that such a misfortune befell his head. When inmates, notorious criminals, tried several times to take his life, he realized that the jokes were over. Now we will have to fight for existence with all the remaining forces.
He was transferred from one camp to another. They brutally beat and tortured only in order to close someone’s unknown affairs with his “help”, trying to force him to commit some meanness. Hardened by a difficult childhood, Georgy Stepanovich held out with the last of his strength. He believed that it is better to die than to become a villain or a liar.
But as soon as one term came to an end, another was immediately added to him. It was such a base revenge of the camp authorities for refusing to cooperate with them. And Zhzhenov broke down, lost heart and began to prepare for death.
Lucky case
Saved his case. The Magadan prison camp was visited by a well-known acting troupe with their performance. Zhzhenov realized that this was his last chance for salvation. He miraculously made his way to the head of the team, and his fate was decided at the same moment.
Georgy Zhzhenov became an actor of the Magadan People’s Theater. Apparently, heaven decided to have mercy on this suffering person. Thanks to the agony he experienced, he was able to convey to people his great acting talent.
Only after his fortieth birthday did Georgy Stepanovich move to the capital. There he began a successful, acting, cinematic life.
Personal life
In Moscow, the actor lived happily and with dignity until his 90th birthday. Georgy Stepanovich was married four times. He has three daughters, two granddaughters and three grandchildren. Georgy Zhzhenov died of lung cancer. He was buried in Moscow at the Novodevichy cemetery (plot number 10).
