Acnelec cream – composition, application, action

Acnelec cream is a drug for external use with keratolytic effect, for topical application. It is used to treat skin lesions, including acne. What else is Acnelec used for? What is its composition? What contraindications?

Acnelec cream – action

Acnelec comes in the form of a gel or cream. It is composed of adapalene. 1 g of cream contains 1 mg of adapalene. The other ingredients are: methyl parahydroxybenzoate (E 218), propyl parahydroxybenzoate (E 216), disodium edetate, glycerol, carbomer 974 P, methyl glucose hexostearate, macrogol 20 methyl glucose hex stearate, squalate, cyclomethicone 5, phenoxyethanol, sodium purified water.

It is used in the treatment of acne vulgaris, mild to moderate acne, maculopapular acne. Acnelec should be applied topically to the skin, which helps to normalize the processes of keratinization and differentiation of the epidermis. This drug also prevents the formation of blackheads and reduces inflammatory changes (papules and pustules). Adapalene has a stronger anti-inflammatory effect than retinoids.

Acnelec cream – dosage

Acnelec cream is intended for adults and children over 12 years of age, for external use only. Apply a small amount of cream to the affected areas. It is recommended to use Acnelec cream once a day, preferably in the evening. Before applying the drug, you should thoroughly wash and dry the skin, then wait 10-15 minutes. Particular care must be taken to ensure that the drug does not get into the eyes, mouth and nasolabial folds. If a dose is missed then the cream should be applied as soon as possible, but if it is almost time for the next dose, do not double the dose to make up.

If the preparation does not bring the expected results after about 3 months of use, further justification for its use should be considered. Acnelec cream should not be used by children under 12 years of age. It is also not recommended for pregnant and lactating women.

Acnelec cream – contraindications

Acnelec cream should not be used if the patient is allergic or hypersensitive to any of the ingredients of the drug. Patients who have severe acne vulgaris, acne covering a large area of ​​the skin, eczema other than acne should also refrain from using it. Acnelec cream should not be used by people with damaged or tanned skin, as well as by pregnant women and those planning to become pregnant.

Acnelec cream – side effects

Like any drug, Acnelec cream can cause side effects. After applying the cream, the following may appear: dry skin, burning sensation, itching, irritation and redness. Quite rarely, there is also itching, peeling of the epidermis, aggravation of acne lesions, contact dermatitis, skin swelling, itchy eyelids, swelling, eyelid irritation or lightening of darker skin.
