Acifungin forte is a liquid preparation that is used in cases of fungal diseases. The composition of Acifungin forte contains substances such as boric acid, salicylic acid and gallic acid. How do the individual ingredients of Acifungin forte work? How to properly use and dose Acifungin forte? Are there any contraindications to the use of this preparation?
Acifungin forte – composition and action
Acifungin forte is a liquid that is used to treat topical fungal infections. The ingredients that were used to compose the Acifungin forte preparation show astringent and keratolytic properties. The fluid is also antibacterial. The most important ingredients of Acifungin forte are:
- boric acid – also known as boric acid is a compound that is widely used in medicine. It is most often used as a soothing agent for skin inflammation and fungal infections. Boric acid also works in the treatment of acne and pimples. It is used in cases of burns, minor skin injuries or bruises. Remember that boric acid must not be used on large wounds.
- salicylic acid – is a compound that belongs to the group of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. It inhibits inflammatory processes and reduces swelling. Topically applied salicylic acid acts as a disinfectant, keratolytic and keratoplastic. Additionally, it dilates the blood vessels of the skin.
- gallic acid – a compound that has the ability to block carcinogenic compounds formed in the metabolic cycle. Gallic acid also has astringent, antiseptic and antiperspirant properties.
- tannin – is a derivative of phenols. It has antioxidant and antibacterial properties. Tannin is widely used in dermatology because it reduces the problem of enlarged pores, helps to eliminate wrinkles and exfoliate dead epidermis.
Acifungin forte – indications and contraindications
The indications for the use of Acifungin forte are mycosis of the skin, as well as the occurrence of periungual shafts and nails. Unfortunately, not every patient struggling with fungal infection can use Acifungin forte. Hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients is a contraindication to the use of this preparation. Acifungin forte cannot be used on mucous membranes, wounds and damaged skin. Also contraindications are oozing changes on the skin, inflammation or allergic changes on the skin. The drug must not be used in skin folds and large areas of the skin.
Acifungin forte – correct use and dosage
The dosage of Acifungin forte should always be consulted with a doctor. Acifungin forte should be applied to the affected areas of the skin or nails three or four times a day. To apply the preparation on the skin, use the brush attached to the package cap. Skin discoloration may occur during treatment with Acifungin forte. Discoloration disappears spontaneously after discontinuing the use of the fluid. When using Acifungin forte, side effects may occur, usually related to allergic reactions. The most common side effects are redness, itching and burning at the application site.
