Fathers are no less than mothers influencing the way their children speak.
Fathers are no less than mothers influencing the way their children speak. Lynne Vernon-Feagans and her colleagues from the University of North Carolina (USA) observed the development of speech in children 2-3 years old in families where both parents work.
It turned out that the larger the father’s vocabulary, the faster the child’s speech development occurs.
One of the possible explanations is that dads usually do not use “children’s language”, less women speak, but essentially and more often about work and their interests, so children hear more new words from them.
