ACC Max is a drug that supports the treatment of chronic diseases of the upper respiratory tract. ACC Max fights chronic cough that occurs in the course of bronchitis, sinusitis and emphysema. What is the composition and action of ACC Max? How to use and dose ACC Max correctly? What precautions should be taken when using ACC Max?
ACC Max – composition and action
ACC Max is a drug available in pharmacies in the form of effervescent tablets. It is used to thin the secretion in the upper respiratory tract, which helps to expectorate it more easily. The active substance of ACC Max is acetylcysteine. One tablet of ACC Max contains 200 mg of acetylcysteine. Auxiliary ingredients of ACC Max are: citric acid, sodium bicarbonate, sodium carbonate, ascorbic acid, i.e. vitamin C, sodium saccharin, sodium citrate, lactose, mannitol and blackberry flavor. Acetylcysteine is a mucolytic drug. There are free groups in acetylcysteine that contain sulfur atoms. They have the ability to break down glycoproteins of mucus in the respiratory tract into smaller particles and to liquefy it and reduce its viscosity. This makes bronchial secretions much easier to cough up. Acetylcysteine does not disturb the natural cough reflex, and additionally has an antioxidant effect, which means that it neutralizes free radicals in inflamed or hypoxic cells.
ACC Max – indications and contraindications
The indication for the use of ACC Max is a troublesome wet cough, during which there are difficulties associated with expectoration of a thick and sticky secretion. ACC Max is most often used in the case of bronchitis, when viscous secretions remain in the airways. ACC Max also works in the course of diseases such as sinusitis or emphysema. Unfortunately, not every patient who struggles with the problem of residual secretions can reach for the ACC Max drug. A contraindication to the use of this preparation is hypersensitivity to acetylcysteine or any component of the drug. ACC Max preparation should also not be used by people diagnosed with peptic ulcer disease, bronchial asthma or respiratory failure.
ACC Max – correct dosage
ACC Max is available in the form of effervescent tablets, which are used to prepare a solution for drinking. One tablet of ACC Max is dissolved in half a glass of water and drunk immediately after preparation. Always use ACC Max according to the doctor’s instructions. According to the recommendations in the package leaflet, the dose of ACC Max for adults and children over 14 years of age is one tablet taken two or three times a day. Younger children, on the other hand, should take one tablet of ACC Max twice a day. ACC Max cannot be used for more than 4-5 days without the recommendation of a doctor.
