Dream of Acapulco is a tropical alcoholic cocktail of medium strength (10-11% vol.) with a characteristic bittersweet fruity taste and tannic notes in the aftertaste. This is a great summer refreshment or cocktail for a big party when you need to make a lot of servings quickly.
Historical information
The originator of the recipe and the exact origin of the cocktail are unknown. It is assumed that it was invented by the bartenders of the Mexican city of Acapulco in the 50s of the XX century. At that time, the city became a favorite vacation spot for Hollywood stars and American millionaires, and most celebrities could not imagine their life without cocktails.
Acapulco was founded by the Aztecs, from their language the name of the city is translated as “the place of the destroyed reeds.” Thanks to a convenient bay for parking large ships, Acapulco was the most important port of Spain during the colonization of Mexico. Now Acapulco is one of the most popular resorts on the Atlantic coast, known for its rich nightlife.
Cocktail recipe Dream of Acapulco
Composition and proportions:
- silver tequila (transparent) – 30 ml;
- dark rum – 10 ml;
- whiskey or bourbon – 10 ml;
- grapefruit juice – 40 ml;
- pineapple juice – 100 ml;
- ice;
- pineapple slice – for decoration.
It is advisable to use freshly squeezed juices, then the taste of the drink will be richer with obvious fruity notes. In some variations of the cocktail, whiskey is not added, as a result, the fortress is somewhat reduced and tannic tones fade into the background. I advise you to try both options and choose the best for yourself.
Technology of preparation
1. Add tequila, rum and whiskey to a shaker with ice. Then pour in the grapefruit and orange juices.
