Many mothers-to-be have some thoughts when planning their pregnancy about whether they would rather raise a boy or a girl. Is it even possible to plan the sex of your child when the pregnancy is fully natural and the conception is purely biological? Of course, not 100%, but there are some indications as to how to plan the conception of a boy and a girl.

What determines the sex of the baby?

The sex of the future child “depends” on the man and his sperm. Men have a karyotype of 46, XY, while women have a karyotype of 46, XX. Only the X chromosome, which is present in both boys and girls, is passed on by the mother each time. The chromosome that a man will pass on, i.e. his sperm that wins the fight to reach the egg cell, will determine the sex of the child. If the sperm carries the X chromosome, a girl will be born, and if the sperm carries the Y chromosome, a boy will be born.

Close-up and conception of a child

The date of choice of intercourse may be the best, but scientifically unproven, method to conceive a child of the chosen sex. According to some assumptions, intercourse during the ovulation itself increases the possibility of male sperm survival, so it is easier to conceive a boy then. However, if you want to conceive a girl, you should start intercourse a few days before ovulation, and refrain from intercourse the day before and on the day of ovulation. If fertilization occurs, it is very likely that a girl will be born, as sperm with the X chromosome have a better chance of surviving longer in the woman’s reproductive tract.

During a joint approach, it is also worth making sure that the woman is the first to achieve sexual satisfaction. Then there is also a greater probability of conceiving a boy, because thanks to the female orgasm, a great living environment is prepared in the vagina for sperm, especially male sperm, which are much faster than female sperm. A woman’s libido plays an important role here.

Can diet help?

Some believe that a woman’s diet may influence which sperm “better” cope with the unpleasant environment of the vagina. There are some indications that conceiving a boy may involve switching to a high-calorie diet, while planning a girl should be associated with a low-calorie diet. One way or another, it will be possible to conceive a child at all only if a woman eats in a balanced, healthy and balanced way.

Hot and cold bath

Women trying for a son should rather choose cool or lukewarm baths, because heat has a more destructive effect on male sperm than on female sperm. Ladies who are planning a daughter can choose warmer baths and, for example, a visit to the sauna. On the other hand, the care of the intimate area should be performed with the use of an intimate hygiene liquid with an appropriate pH that will protect this zone of the female body.
