Properly done make-up removal is an art in itself. The initial cleansing of the skin, i.e. make-up removal, is about dissolving dirt, calloused epidermis and excess sebum on the surface of the skin. During this time, we prepare the skin of the face, neck and cleavage for the application of a nourishing cream or care treatments performed at home.
Occasionally omitted make-up removal will not bring deplorable consequences for our skin, but if such a situation is repeated regularly, the remains of make-up will adversely affect the condition of the skin, as it will hinder regeneration and oxygenation.
The consequences of the lack of careful make-up removal are intensification of allergies and inflammations, skin dryness and the development of free radicals that weaken the collagen and elastin structures. In this way, existing wrinkles deepen, and new ones are formed.
How to perform proper make-up removal?
- We start removing makeup from the eyes. Spread a bit of make-up remover on a cotton pad. Circular movements are carried out from the outer to the inner corner of the eye, dragging the petal along the moving eyelid. Repeat the operation until the swab is clean, and change it to a new one as often as possible. Mascara can be removed using vertical movements from the upper eyelid to the ends of the eyelashes.
- The second step is to remove the makeup from the lips. Again, we use a cotton pad, which we drag in circular motions along the upper lip to the corner of the mouth. We do the same with removing the makeup of the lower lip.
- Now we move on to removing makeup from the face, neck and cleavage. We choose a cosmetic depending on the type of skin. For vascular, sensitive and dry skin, we use delicate creams and lotions, while for oily skin, we reach for make-up removers in the form of gels. Treat the skin gently, do not stretch it excessively. The most recommended are stroking movements from the lower part of the neck to the jaw. Move the center of the chin with the petal along the jaw, reaching the area around the ears. Finally, it’s time for stroking movements from the corner of the mouth to the lower eyelid and from the outer corner and around the temple. Thanks to these few movements, we will remove dirt from the cheeks. It remains to remove the make-up using vertical movements from the tip of the nose upwards and from the center of the forehead to the temples.
- It’s high time to wash your skin with a tonic that will restore the correct pH. Choose a toner wisely, pay attention to your skin type. For dry skin, it will be perfect enriched with hyaluronic acid, hydromania or betaine. For couperose and sensitive skin, the product should be enriched with chestnut extract, ginkgo biloba or milk thistle and contain d-panthenol and allantoin. For oily and combination skin, preparations with sage, green tea or tea tree extracts and with the addition of salicylic acid are recommended. Only after that it is recommended to apply face cream.
