Together with her 70-year-old husband, they tried to conceive a child for 46 years, but nothing worked.
In 1996, 24 years ago, Noah Adenugi had a dream: he dreamed that he would gain worldwide fame, literally everyone would talk about him. And so it happened, but only now. Noah waited for his moment of glory until he was 70 years old.
The man did not invent a perpetual motion machine or a cure for cancer, did not set an Olympic record. He became a father – finally. Together with his wife Margaret, they tried to conceive an heir for a long 46 years: they moved from city to city, from country to country, were treated, saved money for IVF, failed after failure.
“We first tried to have children in 1974,” says Noah.
Few believed in the success of their attempts. Even doctors – after all, the probability of conception as a result of IVF after 45 years is only 2 percent. And the probability of conceiving when a woman is under 70 tends to zero. But the fourth attempt was still successful. This in itself is amazing – not every younger woman is lucky to become pregnant so soon.
“The doctors warned us that it was dangerous for Margaret to bear children. But we really wanted a child, ”Noah told BBC TV.
And the truth is – so many years of trying, so much effort, and when everything worked out, suddenly give up your dream? No, Noah and Margaret could not do that. Doctors monitored the expectant mother throughout the pregnancy. After all, it was complicated not only by the age of the woman in labor, but also by the fact that she was carrying twins. Yes, multiple pregnancies as a result of IVF are not uncommon.
In the 37th week, Margaret had a caesarean at the University Hospital of Lagos.
“This is the first time we have dealt with a pregnancy in a woman of this age,” said the doctors who performed the operation. – This is just a miracle. It was an incredible risk for Margaret, but fortunately we managed to make her pregnancy last until full term. “
Noah and Margaret had a son and daughter. According to media reports, now the young parents and their heirs are doing well, they have already been discharged home.
