Another common stereotype about sexuality. It is refuted by our experts, sexologists Alain Eril and Mireille Bonyerbal.
Alain Eril, psychoanalyst, sexologist:
From the point of view of physiology, a woman is really capable of experiencing multiple orgasms, the interval between which does not exceed 3 minutes. But only 20% of women achieve such «multiple orgasm», since the psychological factor here prevails over physiology: many women prefer not to use this ability of theirs, unconsciously fearing it.
As for the man, after ejaculation he must go through a recovery phase, when he is not able to get excited, even if he is in love to the point of madness.
Some men certainly want to make a woman experience several orgasms to make sure of their own manhood.
Here, the most interesting question seems to me how a man spends the time separating him from the next phase of arousal. He may smoke while he waits for nature to take its course, or he may maintain emotional contact with a woman who is still aroused. In the latter case, it will be fueled by the desire of the partner, and for relationships within the couple this is very fruitful.
Mireille Bonierbal, psychiatrist, sexologist:
The term «infinite» shocks me because it imposes a certain norm. From a physiological point of view, women are capable of this, but for some, one orgasm is enough. However, some men, fixated on this idea of »infinity», certainly want to force a woman to experience several orgasms in order to convince themselves of their own masculine virtues.
Then they compare their achievements with those of their partner. If it turns out that they need much more time to recover (and for men, the recovery phase can last from five minutes to the whole night), then they decide that something is wrong with them and go to the doctor. Meanwhile, sexuality in different people varies quite a lot, while remaining within the normal range.
