A wisdom tooth is cut during pregnancy, how to relieve pain
When a wisdom tooth is cut during pregnancy, it is problematic to eliminate pain, since many medications cannot be used by a pregnant woman. But still, there are folk remedies that will help relieve pain without harming the unborn baby.
How to anesthetize a wisdom tooth during pregnancy?
If there is no gum inflammation and swelling, you can speed up the teething at home. To do this, you need to massage the gums in a circle or bite on solid food. When a tooth is erupting, a kind of “pocket” may appear where food particles can fall. In such a situation, it is important to consult a doctor promptly, who will advise the excision of the gums in order to prevent purulent formation.
With the inflammatory process, aching pain appears, which can be removed by such means:
- place a cotton swab with clove oil on the gum, hold the application for 15 minutes;
- squeeze juice from a clove of garlic and lubricate the place where the tooth grows;
- place a used teabag in a warm form on the site of inflammation;
- rinse your mouth with soda or saline solution;
- rinse your mouth with decoctions of chamomile, sage, calendula;
- drink tea made from ginger, lemon and honey, which has antibacterial properties.
For medications, your dentist may recommend ultracaine or lidocaine, which are approved for pregnancy. It is necessary to make applications on the site of inflammation, lubricating a cotton swab with one of these agents and keeping it on the site of tooth growth for no more than 10 minutes.
Is it possible to remove a wisdom tooth during pregnancy?
Dentists do not recommend removing erupting wisdom teeth during pregnancy, as this is fraught with an increase in body temperature in the expectant mother, headache, and a deterioration in overall health.
But the doctor takes into account what happens at the site of tooth growth.
If unbearable pain appears, the gums become inflamed, a cyst has formed, pus is released, the dentist may decide to immediately remove the tooth
The procedure is performed under local anesthesia using anesthetics approved during pregnancy. But if possible, the doctor decides on the treatment of the tooth and postpones the surgical intervention until a later stage of pregnancy.
If an erupting wisdom tooth is a source of infection, this condition is much more dangerous than using anesthetics. Therefore, it is important to cure or remove it in order to prevent the development of serious complications in the pregnant woman and the fetus.
