A week to change for the better: exercises for every day

Be more active, eat balanced, enjoy every day… How to make your life better in just one week, says Ayurveda guru Deepak Chopra in the book “Down with extra pounds! Quickly and forever!

Many dream of changing, but often banal laziness, ingrained habits, fear of leaving the comfort zone and other far-fetched reasons prevent change. Of course, starting a new life in one day is quite difficult.

The transformation should occur gradually, but it is also not worth delaying. One week is enough to achieve impressive results, says Deepak Chopra.

First, you need to replace the old sad thoughts with new positive ones that stimulate the mind and body. Then give up habits that prevent you from leading an active healthy life.

Monday: turning passive into active

On Monday, replace any passive evening activities (watching TV, playing computer games, and hanging out on social networks) with something active, such as walking around the neighborhood, going to a skating rink, or a dance class. Try to walk more and take the stairs more often instead of the elevator.

Don’t limit yourself to physical activity. Get active at work and in your personal life. Suggest new solutions and topics for discussion at the meeting. Make an appointment with your friends not in a cafe, but, for example, at a climbing wall.

Deepak Chopra reminds: “Whenever you replace some passive activity with an active one, reinforce the positive pattern in your mind by telling yourself: “Now I am active.”

Tuesday: change boring to bright

What can revive and color an ordinary weekday? A bright manicure, make-up or a non-trivial accessory, a salad of colorful vegetables, a fruit smoothie, watching a comedy.

“On this day, wear bright colors and eat spicy or colorful foods. Watch a video of a rainbow on YouTube or stand near a fountain to see how the light refracts, forming a multi-colored arc,” writes Deepak Chopra.

Every time you make a choice in favor of something unusually bright, praise yourself for this act.

Wednesday: amazing instead of monotonous

“Familiar things make life comfortable, but existence would be dull without a pinch of excitement and delight. Change something you do every day,” writes Deepak Chopra. Eat breakfast in a cafe instead of at home, order herbal tea instead of your usual coffee, take a new route to work, and along the way, pay attention to interesting shops, unusual buildings, and unusually dressed people.

Don’t forget to do something new in your personal life as well. Write a love note to your partner or send a message with a romantic confession. Why not decide on something unknown and in intimate relationships? Share your sexual fantasy. Do whatever you can to experience excitement and surprise.

Thursday: turning the old into the new

“On Thursday, throw out all the stale food from the refrigerator. Buy fresh fruits and vegetables. Put fresh flowers on the table. Mark something new in an old friend and tell her about it, ”the guru suggests.

Sort out your wardrobe and decisively get rid of all the things that you haven’t worn for a long time. Old things take up space and prevent something new from appearing. How many times have you given up buying a trendy dress because your closet is already full? You end up wearing things you no longer like. Unload the mezzanines and the desktop, sort through the documents, throw away last year’s magazines.

Make room for something new. Most likely, throwing a couple of boxes of trash in the trash, you will also feel emotional relief.

Friday: optimism instead of pessimism

On Friday, try to find something positive even in the most unpleasant moments. It is not always easy to do this – it is much easier to complain about the imperfection of the world or the injustice of fate.

Make a donation to a charity, give away old things, plant a tree

Deepak Chopra recommends: “Think of things and events in terms of hope, new opportunities, human kindness, healing. Find an opportunity to help those who are suffering and refrain from blaming them for what happened. How can you change this world for the better? Make a donation to a charitable foundation, volunteer, give away old things (from which the closet was emptied the day before), plant a tree, start sorting garbage.

Reinforce and reinforce the new attitude in your mind by telling yourself, “Now I’m doing something important for the future.”

Saturday: turn work into rest

Weekends are made for relaxation, but too often we are forced to take work home and go about our business. This makes it impossible to switch, recover and break out of the routine. Or we spend the day off lying on the couch in front of the TV or surfing the Internet.

Decide in advance what can give you a feeling of renewal and bring pleasure. Get up early, do yoga or watch the sunrise, cook a healthy breakfast for the whole family, go for a walk in the forest, draw with crayons on the pavement with the children.

These activities will help you truly rejuvenate, feel at peace and become less irritable.

Sunday: inspiring instead of ordinary

Sunday is a great day for spiritual transformation. “Read uplifting spiritual literature or poetry. Admire works of art, listen to musical masterpieces – choose what feeds your soul, ”writes Deepak Chopra.
