We all found plastic cups or bags on the beaches more than once and were indignant with indignation. But have you ever wondered what is stored underwater? It turns out that you can find very curious things there, which happened to one of the volunteers of the Union of Ocean Defenders in Hawaii.
During an underwater operation off the South Shore of Oahu, volunteer Rose Zhang discovered a camera that was found to be operational. It is reported by UPI.
Ocean Conservation Union volunteers are used to finding fishing nets, hooks and even tractor tires on the ocean floor. Finding a camera among the garbage was a big surprise for Rose and the team. Fortunately, the device was sealed in a waterproof case, so the memory card survived.
When the girl connected the GoPro to the computer, she saw that the last entry was dated July 2014: in the video, a young guy and his friends were about to jump into the water from a cliff.
Hoping to find the owner, Rose posted a video on her Facebook page, and it worked: 24-year-old Oahu Nainoa Kamai, recognizing himself in the video, immediately contacted Rose.
Kamai later explained that his mom gave him the camera just a few days before the jump, and when he saw the video online, he was in shock: how is this even possible?! Having received the device personally from the hands of Rose, the young man promised that he would use the camera as soon as he changed the battery – the old one still deteriorated.
I would like to believe that this is how good deeds are continuously done: one invariably leads to another, and so on along the chain. And it’s even hard to say who is happier: Rose, who gave the young man a piece of his past, or Kamai, who again acquired an important thing for him and believed that the impossible is possible. In any case, the world at this moment has become a little better and kinder.
