The Minister of Health, Adam Niedzielski, appointed a team for medical assistance for Ukraine. His work, as chairman, will be led by the deputy head of the ministry, Waldemar Kraska. The team is to support the ministry in helping Ukrainian refugees in Poland.

The task of the team is to support the minister of health in all tasks aimed at helping Ukrainians in Poland. It is primarily about the current analysis of the situation, needs and possibilities in terms of providing help. Almost 24 million Ukrainians have come to our country since the day of Our Country’s attack on Ukraine (February 1,5 this year).
The team will also monitor ongoing initiatives, analyze activities and advise the minister. At the moment, the most urgent and important tasks include the development of regulations governing the use of the public health service by Ukrainians, the rules for prescribing and reimbursing drugs, as well as the issue of vaccinations for the inhabitants of Ukraine.

The tasks of the team also include an overview of activities undertaken by the international community in the field of health care in connection with the crisis in Ukraine and the exchange of information with medical entities, their founding entities, the National Health Fund and state administration bodies in the field of activities related to the crisis in Ukraine.

Legislative work is also underway on the law that will enable Ukrainian citizens to access the public health service in Poland. These works also concern the principles of drug reimbursement.
The team is an auxiliary body of the minister of health. It included, among others director of the Security Department at the Ministry of Health; Chief Pharmaceutical Inspector, Chief Sanitary Inspector, director of the National Institute of Public Health NIH – National Research Institute, director of the National Blood Center, director of the Department for Uniformed Services at the headquarters of the National Health Fund; director of the Investment Assessment Department at the Ministry of Health; director of the ministerial Department of Budget and Finance; director of the International Cooperation Office of the Ministry of Health and director of the Department of Healthcare at the Ministry of Health.

As provided for in the work of the Team, non-members invited by the chairman will be able to participate in an advisory capacity. The ordinance also indicated that the team leader may commission people from outside this group, as well as external entities, to prepare opinions or expert opinions.
The task of the team is to support the minister of health in the implementation of his tasks, in particular through: ongoing analysis and assessment of the needs and possibilities of providing medical assistance in connection with the crisis in Ukraine, as well as monitoring projects related to securing health services for people affected by the consequences of the armed conflict in Ukraine, which found themselves in Poland and presenting conclusions in this area to the minister.
The tasks of the team also include an overview of activities undertaken by the international community in the field of health care in connection with the crisis in Ukraine and the exchange of information with medical entities, their founding entities, the National Health Fund and state administration bodies in the field of activities related to the crisis in Ukraine.
