A short vacation is healthier than a long vacation

The ideal rest should not last more than three days, and the place we choose should not be more than four hours away from our home, argues Dr. David Lewis from the British University of Sussex. Daily mail informs about his mathematical formula for a perfect holiday.

Research commissioned by the Holiday Inn hotel chain shows that many vacationers experience so much stress during their holidays abroad that they return home more tired than regenerated.

After taking into account factors such as the amount of free time, the cost of holidays, boredom, relaxation or anxiety and fears (related to, among others, accumulation of arrears at work), Dr. short vacation relatively nearby.

This explains in part the growing popularity of shorter vacations in the UK, where an increasing number of holidaymakers are finding extending their weekends is more rewarding than a long vacation, says Dr Lewis.

The traditional post-vacation decline in form can put more stress on people returning to work and struggling to deal with arrears and issues requiring immediate concentration, she adds. Taking into account the things that we exaggerate during the holidays, such as sunbathing for too long, overeating or drinking alcohol, it can be said that the longer the vacation, the greater the potential health risk (PAP).
