A short glossary of terms for washing machines

RUS

CMA (washing machine) – a machine that requires minimal user intervention. SMA is connected to communications: water supply, electricity, sewerage, equipped with automatic programs.

Drum autobalancing. Before starting the spin cycle, the machine checks whether the drum is loaded evenly. If the laundry is lumped together, the machine tries to distribute things by slowly rotating the drum alternately in different directions.

Automatic dosage – system of automatic selection of the amount of washing powder required for washing. The calculation takes into account the amount of laundry loaded, the type of fabric, the degree of soiling and the hardness of the water.

Automatic water level control (ALS, auto-weighing). A function that is aimed at maintaining the optimal volume of water in order to improve the quality of washing, optimize the waste of detergents and resources, and protect things from possible damage.

Self-cleaning (self-cleaning) – automatic drum cleaning system. The function provides for the launch of a “blank” (without linen) wash cycle at the maximum allowable temperature and rinsing in plenty of water.

Activators (rib breaker) – ribs inside the drum of the washing machine. Usually plastic. The main task: to balance the drum, mix the contents.

anti-allergywash cycle to remove allergens in CMA Hotpoint-Ariston and AEG. Provides rinsing of linen with heating of water of 60 °C.

Tank – completely ALL container into which water with detergent for washing is poured. And the drum is inside the tank – you load things into it. The tank can be plastic and stainless. A plastic tank is quieter and cheaper, a stainless one is expensive, but durable. It usually consists of two halves, it can be collapsible and not collapsible.

Drum (not to be confused with tank) – a container in which the user loads laundry for washing. The part is fixed inside the tank on bearings.

Biophase. Mode in washing machines to remove organic contaminants. In this mode, powders and gels with enzymes are most effective.

Quick wash – short wash program suitable for lightly soiled laundry. Most often, the “Quick Wash” button allows you to reduce the execution time of almost any program. If there is a number next to the button (division on the selector) “Quick wash”: 12/15/20 and so on, this is a separate program with an indication of the execution time. For example, “Quick 15” is a quick wash that runs for 15 minutes.

Vertical loading – type of loading of the washing machine. Laundry is loaded from above.

Inlet (filler) filter – SMA protective detail, made in the form of a round plastic mesh with small holes. Designed to filter the running water entering the tank from rust, sand and other small debris. The filter is located in front of the inlet valve, at the junction of the SMA and the water supply hose.

Audible alarm (alert) – a sound that notifies the user about the main stages of washing and errors.

inverter motor (Digital Inverter) – a new generation SMA motor, in the design of which there is a frequency converter and there is no collector-brush assembly. The frequency converter (inverter) allows you to more accurately control the speed of the drum, and the absence of carbon brushes extends the life of the motor itself.

Night washQuiet washing program, from which the final spin is automatically excluded. The intensity of the intermediate (between rinses) spins decreases, while the number of rinses increases.

Delayed Start (Delayed Start, Delayed Start Timer) – an additional CMA option, thanks to which you can choose a convenient washing time by programming the machine to turn on after a certain period of time (usually up to 24 hours).

Drum cleaning Eco – the self-cleaning mode in Samsung washing machines is designed to remove dirt and mold in the drum that may form in it.

steam cycle – steam treatment program. Depending on the capabilities of the CMA, it is used as a full-fledged steam wash (for faster and more effective removal of dirt) or to refresh things.

Drain pump (pump) – pumps water out of the washing machine.

Сinlet (drainage) filter – SMA detail in the form of a collapsible flask with a metal or plastic mesh. Designed to protect the drain pump from the accumulation of debris, powder residues and other foreign small objects that accidentally get into the drum. In most SMAs, it is located at the bottom of the device and is covered by a protective cover.

Shipping bolts – fasteners that hold the tank on the CMA body during transportation. Requires mandatory dismantling when installing a washing machine!

Turbodryer (TURBO DRY) – a drying system that sprays the washed clothes with a heated dry air stream.
