A selection of book novelties for children about childhood
June 1 – International Children’s Day. On this day, we are especially attentive to children, their problems and destinies. Let’s read books with your child about childhood – about the joys of this period of life and about the difficulties that children sometimes have to face in this difficult world.
Alain Serre. “I have the right to be a child”
Child rights are not just big words on paper. Children’s rights are important everywhere: at home and at school, in the yard and in the hospital, on TV screens, computers and telephones, in books and games. They must be respected by everyone, because children cannot always protect themselves in order to turn from happy and protected children into smart, kind and strong adults.
French educator, writer and publisher Alain Serre talks about the rights of the child in a simple but vivid language, like the illustrations for this book, with rhythm and rhymes. And he is helped by a wonderful translator Mikhail Yasnov.
I also have the right to study for free to learn how poppy seeds, planes and birds fly.
Nicholas Schuff. “Visible-invisible friends”
Once upon a time there were children, and each of them had their own cherished desire. Juan dreamed of a dog. Nina was very worried about her performance at the school concert. And Leo really wanted to escape into fairy tales from parental quarrels … They met unusual animals that helped them fulfill their dream: an invisible dog, a paper crane drawn by a winged horse or a cat that knows how to sew.
Argentine writer Nicholas Schuff gave his characters imagination, which helped them overcome various difficulties and find real friends. And to us, the readers, – a fascinating book about fantasy and friendship.
Bird and Nina looked at each other. Then the crane chirped, flapped its wings and rose into the sky. Nina waved her hand after her and saw him rise higher and higher towards the stars. Soon the crane turned into a point and disappeared, only a white feather remained on the grass. Nina picked him up and returned to the room. She put the pen on the nightstand and fell asleep. Now she was confident in herself – she was no longer afraid to dance
Fanny Britt. “Jane, Fox and Me”

- publishing house “Albus Corvus / White crow”
This is a graphic novel, which is considered one of the best illustrated stories for children and adolescents about how the main character faces misunderstanding and ridicule from her former girlfriends and classmates.
It all started with a play by Canadian author Fanny Britt, about a girl named Helen, who was turned away by all her school friends. Isabelle Arsenault, known for her graphic adaptations of the classics, invented a magical story based on it. The story has a place for kindness, friendship, beauty, and hope for a good ending.
Victor Dragunsky. “Deniskin’s stories”
Since the book Deniskin’s Stories by Viktor Dragunsky was first published, readers have come to love these funny stories so much that this book is being reprinted and republished. And, probably, there is no such student who would not know Deniska Korablev, who has become his boyfriend for children of different generations – so he looks like schoolmates who find themselves in funny, sometimes ridiculous situations …
This book with popular classic funny stories is adorned with the best, according to V. Dragunsky, illustrations for “Denis’s Tales” ever created by graphic artists. Veniamin Losin is one of the best illustrators of children’s books.
And when we walked home, I kept thinking: “Is Kozlovsky singing louder than me?”
Yuz Aleshkovsky. “Winter and Dvaportfel”
Yuz Aleshkovsky is considered to be an “adult” writer, but this is not entirely true. In addition to novels and songs, he wrote three wonderful, kind, instructive stories and several stories for children. We present one of them – “Kysh and Dvaportfelja”. In it, the story of the friendship between first-grader Alyosha Seroglazov and his puppy Kysh was written by Yuz Aleshkovsky with great love for our children and our younger brothers. That is why Kysh turned out to be so lively, bright, and Alyosha – a real loyal comrade, brave, courageous and capable of amazing deeds.
On the first of September I went to school, and at the very first break, the tallest boy in our class, Misha Lvov, measured me from head to toe with my own briefcase. He measured it and immediately gave me the nickname Two Portfolio. And he appropriated the nickname Tiger to himself. Because of the surname Lviv
“Misha and Masha. We brush our teeth “
These hilarious short stories are a real tutorial on good manners for the little ones – with great illustrations, simple and catchy plots.
“Now it’s time to brush your teeth,” Dad said. – Misha, can I help you? ” “No, no, I myself,” said Misha
“Fedya the bear and the pot”
This is a funny and instructive story about how Fedya learned to go potty. Using the example of the main character, the child will easily master the necessary life skills. And funny poems and colorful drawings with a lot of details will certainly appeal to the kid.
And then he sat down on the piece, as if in a chair. So the thing is a pot! How interesting!
Zina Surova. “Summer in the village”
Summer is freedom, vivid impressions and observation of nature. And where, if not in the village, can you really feel the taste of summer? Here are sweet strawberries, bicycles, fishing, spending the night in the open air, bungee jumping, a hike for mushrooms, apples from the garden and many, many things that are inaccessible to us in the city.
In this book, you will find a fascinating and informative story on behalf of an eleven-year-old boy – his impressions of life in the village and an amazing story about a summer full of games, creativity and unforgettable adventures.
The Journey is an incredibly beautiful story without words. A story about dreams, finding yourself, courage and friendship. It tells the story of a girl who, one dreary gray day, draws a children’s door with her favorite chalk on the wall … and through this door she finds herself in a bright magical world full of wonders, adventures and dangers. On the way, many trials await her, but she copes with them thanks to her courage, resourcefulness and, of course, imagination.
