Contraceptives allow you to control your fertility and to control conception and subsequent birth of a child. Known methods of contraception include planning safe intercourse, using condoms and using hormonal contraceptives. Among the new methods of contraception, the most important are contraceptive implants. How do they work and how can such an implant be implanted in your body? About it below!
Use of contraceptive implants
Although this method is used relatively rarely, it enjoys one of the best opinions right next to intrauterine devices, which equally protect against unwanted pregnancy.
How do contraceptive implants work?
They contain hormones, in particular one hormone – progestin. This hormone is automatically released into the body accordingly. It protects against the “release” of the egg, so it is not possible to get pregnant. This hormone also changes the composition of the cervical mucus, so that the sperm contained in it have no chance of surviving longer and reaching the fertilization site.
How is the implant “mounted”?
The procedure is performed by a gynecologist or another doctor. The implant is inserted under the skin of the forearm using a special device, without any surgical intervention. Implant it is implanted on the inside of the forearmso it is completely invisible to the eyes of others. Before implant placement, this part of the body is anesthetized, so the procedure itself is virtually painless.
The implant can be removed at any time when the woman considers it appropriate, e.g. she wants to get pregnant. Removal of the implant is also not painful and this procedure is also performed by a doctor.
