A pregnant woman infected with swine flu died in Egypt

A pregnant woman infected with the A / H1N1 virus, popularly known as the swine flu virus, died five days after being admitted to the hospital, Egypt’s foreign ministry said on Sunday.

A 31-year-old woman, whose identity was not given, was admitted to the hospital on November 18. She showed symptoms typical of flu; when she stopped responding to treatment, she was placed in the intensive care unit, said Hossam spokesman Abdel Ghaffar.

We thought it was bird flu, but the patient was tested for swine flu and tested positive, he added.

Two people died of bird flu in Egypt last week.
