UK hairdressers report new allergic reactions such as rashes and burns in customers who dye their hair. Allergy occurs in people who have had a coronavirus infection, the BBC reports.

Dyeing your hair should be preceded by an allergy test. Such a recommendation can be found on every paint package intended for home use, and a hairdresser should also do it in a hairdressing salon. The test should be carried out every time, even if the same product and shade of paint are always used.

Now it has become even more important. Hairdressers in parts of the UK report that customers who color their hair have a new type of allergic reaction, similar to rashes or burns. These are people who fell ill COVID-19 – informs the BBC.

A hairdresser in the UK introduced mandatory allergy tests before dyeing the hair of clients after symptoms of an unprecedented allergy were noticed in one of their clients. Since the beginning of the mandatory tests for all customers, hairdressers have faced the same problem in four people.

Scientists from Imperial College London decided to take a closer look at the link between allergies and COVID-19 and investigating how the disease can reprogram our immune system, which has likely happened to people who were unexpectedly allergic to hair dye. We will have to wait for the scientific conclusions.
