Scientists are investigating a new ‘triple mutant’, a variant of the coronavirus with a strange combination of genes. The mutation has been detected in Yorkshire, UK. The local media devote a lot of attention to it, and the authorities confirm that they are investigating the variety.
Coronavirus. The triple combination of genes
So far, 49 cases of the new British variant of the coronavirus have been detected. Scientists are now investigating whether a variant with a ‘strange’ combination of genes had any chance of spreading. However, they say that the mutation called VUI-21MAY-01 or AV.1 is still under investigation, and so far there is no major cause for concern.

Sheffield’s director of public health, Greg Fell, said his team is watching a “triple mutant” and there is no suspicion that he is more infectious or resistant to the vaccine. He also added that to protect yourself from it, simply “do what you have been doing for the last year – wash your hands regularly and wear protective masks indoors”.
Authorities stress that they will not hesitate to take the necessary measures to block the transmission of any variant of the virus. However, the spokesman for the prime minister reassures the public that “there have already been many variants and many more will appear”.

And although the British authorities calm down, the pandemic situation in the country is not the best. The UK is the first European country in a long time to re-establish itself as a habitat for various variants of the coronavirus.
The German health care institute of Robert Koch recognized Great Britain last Friday as a “zone for mutating coronavirus variants”, but it is mainly about the Indian mutation. This means that all travelers from the UK to Germany will be subject to a two-week quarantine from Sunday.
