A new pandemic. It affects 76 percent of people

The fat body already has 3,5 billion of us. Plus even athletes and underweight people. So it has nothing to do with obesity, but like obesity, it leads to strokes, heart attacks, dementia, diabetes and other chronic diseases. It even applies to those who are obsessed with being fit.

The phenomenon was first described by Frontiers in Public Health magazine. I am talking about overfat, which is called too much fat in the body, which is harmful to health.

Unfortunately, it is not visible to the naked eye, because it may not be associated with overweight and obesity. Even a very thin person, or who is underweight or anorexic, can be affected by fatty tissue. It is visible only in ultrasound and other examinations that allow the body to be scanned.

Scientists report that only 14 percent of people are free from the problem, which means that the vast majority of us – 76 percent (that’s 5,5 billion people) have it. This is what Dr. Philip Maffetone, who leads the study, said. He adds that even professional athletes with a perfect body and people who regularly practice recreational sports are not free from this problem.

What does fat mean? The fact that such a person, even if he has an ideal weight and body, is at risk of many chronic diseases. The same as the one that has the so-called abdominal obesity, which was described as severe many years ago.

It is known that there has been an obesity epidemic in the last 40 years. Many of us fight it individually, and governments of many countries are also fighting it. Unfortunately, it’s a fight against windmills. There are more and more obese people, and for example Polish children gain weight the fastest in Europe. We have actually forfeited the fight against fat. For the simple reason that most people, even doctors, just don’t know anything about it.

Dr. Philip Maffetone wants to change this, he hopes that it will be possible after his research results are made public, and that as we become aware of this phenomenon, new health strategies will emerge to combat them.

By the way, it also talks about a rarer phenomenon, but also little known – underfat, which affects every tenth of us. – We believe that low-fat is a problem of starving people in the poorest regions of the world. The truth is that it also applies to highly developed societies. It is favored by the aging of the society, the increase in the number of chronic diseases, an increase in the incidence of eating disorders and the increasingly observed obsession with being. As for the latter, low-fat is promoted by excessive training and putting too much weight on the percentage breakdown of nutrients in the diet.

Dr. Maffetone claims that only 14 percent. humanity has a normal body fat content.

And 86 percent of us have fat or low fatness. And not only is it a serious threat to our health and affects people of all ages, in all regions of the world and in all social groups, it also generates huge costs for health systems.

Unfortunately, the scientist does not give a cure for fat. It seems that until the guidelines on how to fight it are announced, it is worth following a diet that is used in the case of a fatty liver, i.e. limit saturated fats, fried foods, give up processed products, play sports, but not only for recreational purposes. And instead of various restrictive diets, whether for slimming or for athletes, simply eat as varied as possible.
