Coronavirus: compulsory vaccinations for medics, teachers and uniformed services from March

The head of the Ministry of Health, Adam Niedzielski, announced on Tuesday that the government would want to introduce mandatory vaccinations for medics, teachers and uniformed services from March 1.

I don’t know why the March 1 deadline was given. Today I heard that the New York City government had imposed vaccinations on entrepreneurs and other professional groups by December 27. Probably the date given today by the minister of health serves to protect us against the fall wave in 2022. Today we heard from the Interdisciplinary Center for Mathematical and Computational Modeling of the University of Warsaw that the outbreaks of the epidemic will expire by the end of February. So it fits in with this way of looking at the matter. This is the only way I can explain it. In fact, however, even this announcement does not mean anything, because how to get a vaccination from an employee if there are no provisions of the act and no tools to control it – pointed out prof. Flisiak.

Coronavirus: restrictions from December 15

Deputy Minister Waldemar Kraska informed on Tuesday that from December 15 the limits will be lowered to 30 percent. occupancy of premises in restaurants, bars and hotels; discos, clubs and facilities providing places for dancing will be closed. The vaccinated persons will not be counted towards these limits. On December 31 this year. and on January 1, 2022, the number of customers in closed premises will be limited to a maximum of 100 people, of course excluding those who are vaccinated.

On this point, we are in the same place that without a law allowing the inspection of persons entering these places, it is a dead provision. A restaurateur, hotelier or pastor has no legal grounds to enter the private sphere of another person. Even if they really wanted to – added prof. Flisiak.

He indicated that, in fact, the only visible sign that something is changing will be the closure of schools for the period from December 20 to January 9.

A year ago, schoolchildren – and only part of the schools – returned in mid-January and in February we saw an effect in the form of an increase in infections. Now, probably thanks to this, we will also achieve a certain decline, but then the fires will be smoldering again until the end of February. So the concept of “until spring” still applies – assessed the representative of the Medical Council.

In his opinion, education should create a mechanism promoting schools with a high level of vaccination. – At some point in time, we proposed the introduction of regulations to reduce the probability of introducing remote learning in institutions where, for example, 80 percent of people are involved. teachers and students – he said.

However, in order to enforce this, the school head would also need to have access to vaccinations. Without it, it will be a dead law – assessed prof. Flisiak.

Additionally, he drew attention to the error in the form of using antigen tests, e.g. in the case of people arriving in Poland for testing for SARS-CoV-2 virus infection.

These tests, when performed on asymptomatic individuals, have a relatively low sensitivity. So their use in someone who is not manifesting an infection is of limited value. They are for those who have symptoms and high virus multiplication, and are useful in the early stages of clinically overt infection, he explained.

According to prof. Flisiak, also a fictitious recipe that will be ignored by many entrepreneurs.

He concluded that the restrictions announced on Tuesday were “to add provisions that cannot be effectively implemented at the moment”.

He added that 4 points included in the appeal supported by 46 medical scientific societies are still valid. Altogether, several hundred of the most eminent Polish doctors and scientists democratically selected by their specialist circles sit on the boards of these societies.

In connection with the current epidemic situation, the Board of the Main Polish Society of Epidemiologists and Doctors of Infectious Diseases sent an appeal and an open letter to President Andrzej Duda, Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki, Minister of Health Adam Niedzielski, Speaker of the Sejm Elżbieta Witek and Speaker of the Senate Tomasz Grodzki.

Experts in the letter highlight “the enormous number of cases and deaths from COVID-19”, “restricted access to healthcare for patients with other diseases” and “the uncertainty surrounding the emergence of new variants of the virus”.

Therefore, epidemiologists call for urgent work on legal acts allowing employers to control the fact that employees have the EU covid certificate (UCC) “and to take appropriate actions within the workplace”.

According to experts, it is also necessary to undertake urgent works on legal acts limiting the access of people without UCC to public places in closed spaces or when it is impossible to keep distance.

Experts also call for action to eliminate and penalize vaccine fraud with high penalties. According to the signatories, it is also necessary to mobilize law enforcement services to enforce the regulations already in force regarding the wearing of masks in public confined spaces.
