Lyme disease is one of the most insidious infectious diseases of our time. It can resemble, for example, RA or chronic fatigue syndrome, which makes diagnosis difficult. Migratory erythema, the most characteristic of Lyme disease, will not appear in all patients. Meanwhile, doctors observe another symptom that may indicate that we are infected.

The first and common symptom of Lyme disease

The first and most important symptom of Lyme disease – the disease most often transmitted by ticks – is migratory erythema. It is worth recalling that this is a growing redness several centimeters in diameter that appears around the site of the bite (usually between the sixth and 60th day after the tick bite). He is often called «bull’s eye«Because it creates redness surrounded by pale skin with a red border on the outside.

Note:

If you haven’t developed a migratory erythema after a tick bite, it doesn’t mean you don’t have Lyme disease. Protect yourself from a tick bite, and if necessary, quickly remove it from your body. Order the Sanity forceps kit (liquid repellent + removal tool).

It is estimated that this symptom affects 70-80 percent. Lyme patients. Some experts believe that only half of the sick people experience it.

So far, it is not known exactly why the disease manifests itself in neck stiffness. It is possible that Lyme disease spirochetes infiltrate muscles, blood vessels and nerves and cause inflammation in the form of pain, stiffness and cramps.

Lyme disease is often called the “great mimic”. It can give symptoms that resemble other various diseasessuch as rheumatoid arthritis (RA). However, it is worth remembering which symptoms – in addition to those already mentioned – should worry us and be a contribution to the examination for Lyme disease:

  1. feeling tired and weak that do not go away after rest;
  2. headache and dizziness;
  3. depressed mood, irritability;
  4. pain in muscles and joints;
  5. it is possible to violate the nerves responsible for proper vision, so a frequent symptom may be photosensitivity and transient visual disturbances;
  6. hearing impairment;
  7. problems with memory and concentration;
  8. behavior change, anxiety, phobias, depression, anxiety;
  9. cystitis;
  10. problems with regular menstruation;
  11. skin lesions, including rashes, psoriasis, and atopic dermatitis.
