We use memory in every moment of our lives. Waking up in the morning, we realize who we are and what we need to do, because it is embedded in our memory. Thanks to her, we can work, dance, write and just talk. Memory is a universal instrument of our consciousness. It depends on its serviceability whether we will be able to lead a full life, whether we will be in demand, successful. Psychologist Alan Lieri approaches memory precisely as a tool: he describes its structure, principles of operation and, of course, ways to keep it in working condition. Once Conan Doyle, through the lips of his hero Sherlock Holmes, compared memory with an attic in which you can put a lot of things, but at the same time, most people do it thoughtlessly, so it seems to us that the attic is half empty. The way out is to memorize actively, group and structure information, use special mnemonics. Much of Lieri’s book is devoted to them.
