You don’t have to visit your husband in the garage to get the trouble in the form of a black oil stain on your favorite dress. Fuel oil is common, so even a simple bus ride can turn into a painful search for ways to get rid of the stain. Take advantage of folk advice.

A greasy stain on jeans: how to remove

Unfortunately, even an expensive powder will not work just to wash jeans from fuel oil. More precisely, the stain will not go away. The fact is that fuel oil is a product of oil refining, it contains stable resins and asphaltenes, so it is these that need to be dissolved.

It is ordinary gasoline that will help to remove the stain from the fuel oil on a dark thing. Just soak a cotton swab in the gasoline and rub the cloth with it. The resins will dissolve. Change the tampon and try to remove the stain from them.

As soon as the stains are defeated, send the item to the balcony for at least three hours, the smell of gasoline must be removed. Then machine wash with powder and conditioner.

Take a look at a car store. You are not the first, so sellers are likely to suggest a popular solvent. Most fuel oil solvents contain toluene. It is problematic to buy the substance in its pure form, but in the composition of some solutions it is possible.

Toluene is a poison. Therefore, with any means that include it in the composition, you need to work only in rubber gloves, and better in a respirator.

Try the solvent on a small piece of cloth. If the fabric and paint have held up, then start treating the stain. Soak a cotton pad with the solution and leave for 15–20 minutes, then change the disc and gently rub the stain in a circular motion. If the fuel oil is heavily smeared, replace the discs as often as possible. If the stain has floated, do not worry, treat it with a solution so as to capture the area around it, when washing everything will be washed off without a trace.

You will need: – ammonia, – starch, – turpentine.

Mix all the ingredients until a homogeneous porridge is obtained. It is difficult to recommend the proportions, but it is customary to take turpentine and alcohol in equal parts. Starch is just a thickener.

Put the porridge on the stain and leave it on for a couple of hours. If over time the stain does not lighten, change the porridge and leave for a couple of hours.

Rub the lightened spot with characteristic streaks around it with a soft brush. Wash the item in a weak vinegar solution (0,5 cups per 10 liters of water), and then with the powder in a washing machine.

Due to its fibrous structure, such a composition is unlikely to be able to clean the fuel oil from jeans, but the raincoat fabric on the jacket can be cleaned of fuel oil, only beforehand, as always, try the gruel on an inconspicuous area. Kerosene is aggressive and can damage the fibers of the fabric. In this case, wash the jacket in a caustic soda solution (dilute 200 grams per 10 liters, soak for 30 minutes and wash).
