When one spouse begins to improve their health (for example, trying to quit smoking), the likelihood that the other will follow his example increases, says Professor Jody Sindelar (Jody Sindelar) from Yale University (USA). For many years, together with her colleagues, she studied the lifestyle of 6072 spouses and found out: the probability that a smoker or a drinker will leave his addiction will be five times (!) Higher if his half sets an example for him. Moreover, partners copy each other’s behavior regardless of gender. Detail: such useful “preventive” habits, such as regular check-ups with a doctor or flu shots, which doctors insist on so much, are copied by spouses with much less enthusiasm. But it’s still worth trying to set an example …
