In a distant, distant forest lived a family of foxes: a mother fox, a father fox, and two cubs. The fox cubs were very friendly, they loved to play with each other, tumble in the tall grass, run around the spacious meadow that was not far from their forest.

And once a family of foxes was invited to a distant pine forest for a holiday of summer berry picking. The foxes were very happy that such an interesting journey was ahead. They began to run and frolic.

Mom began to hurry them up: “We are going faster, otherwise we will not have time for the holiday.” But the cubs did not seem to hear their mother: they played, dug minks, but did not begin to gather for the holiday. In the end, mother fox and father fox began to leave the house, and mother said: «Fox cubs, we need to go very quickly, we are already very late, because you were getting ready for a long time.» But the cubs often stopped to look at how the ant crawled along the blade of grass or how the butterfly fluttered its wings.

In the end, when the family came to the holiday, the guests began to disperse, and only sour and unripe raspberries remained from the treats. The foxes were very upset, because the berries were their favorite delicacy. There was nothing to do but turn around and go home without tasty treats.

On the way back, the mother fox said, “I have an idea! Tomorrow we will get up early, quickly pack up and go to the distant forest to the strawberry clearing. But we must get there first, otherwise all the berries that ripen there during the night will be picked by other animals. Well, can we do it?» The cubs pricked up their ears, spun around their mother and promised her to get up early tomorrow, quickly pack up and go to a wonderful meadow.

Lying in their beds, the cubs were impatiently waiting for the morning to go for sweet berries. In the morning they woke up before their mother came into their room to wake them up. With a joyful squeal, the cubs ran quickly to wash and have breakfast. They quickly tidied up their fur and were ready to go out before their parents.

The mother fox gave each a basket, and they went for berries. This time, the cubs quickly minced with their paws — after all, they so wanted to collect more ripe juicy berries!

So they got very soon to a wonderful clearing. It was still very early and there was no one in this clearing. Everywhere there were visibly-invisibly red ripe years — their favorite! The fox cubs began to quickly collect them in their baskets, and sometimes they put the berries right in their mouths and ate them with joy.

They gladly gathered berries in their baskets and showed them to their mother. Mom praised the foxes for being so smart and filling their baskets with delicious berries so quickly. On the way back, the cubs watched with interest how an overturned beetle moved its paws, how an ant dragged a heavy twig, how a bird fluttered out of the bushes.

The fox family was returning home, and on the way back they all sang songs together and rejoiced that the sun was warming them with its rays. Animals walked towards them and wondered how the cubs managed to pick up so many berries, because the day had just begun.
