Guest of the program “Onet Rano.” was Tomasz Karauda, a doctor from the lung diseases department of the University Hospital in Łódź. Medyk commented on the death of a pregnant 30-year-old Iza in a hospital in Pszczyna. What are the doctors saying about this situation?
Death of a 30-year-old pregnant woman in Pszczyna. What do the doctors say?
– I see fear decides. Everyone is afraid to make risky decisions, and such decisions happen often in medicine. When a woman’s life is at risk and the fetus has lethal defects, we should save the mother, said the doctor in the program.
– It takes courage to make decisions. If the doctor knows that the specter of a prison hangs over him, he waits until the last moment. We create a climate in which it is difficult to save people, because ideology stands in front of man and science, commented Tomasz Karauda.
The doctor’s words confirm what the gynecologists said in an interview with Medonet. Doctors admitted that their work was terrible. – We feel that we are putting ourselves at risk to the system. In the light of the cameras, we are led out in handcuffs and brought to trial. Our state is simply oppressive. It is difficult to undertake rational methods of saving patients with the vision of serving 25 years in prison – said one of them.
The Ministry of Health also spoke about the death of a pregnant woman. “It must be strongly emphasized that doctors must not be afraid of making obvious decisions based on their experience and available medical knowledge” – emphasizes the Ministry of Health. This is a reaction to the protests that swept through Poland after Izabela’s death in a hospital in Pszczyna.
