The number of coronavirus infections is increasing. Doctors who see more and more patients with COVID-19 symptoms see it best. – Official statistics that say that there are about 5 a day. positive test results are actually about 10 percent. falling ill with COVID-19. I estimate that at the moment it may be approx. 30-40 thousand. new cases daily – says Dr. Michał Matyjaszczyk from the Polish Mother’s Health Center in Lodz.

  1. Dr. Matyjaszczyk admits that there are a lot of sick people, even though not all of them are tested at the Health Care Center. We did several tests a week for COVID-19 and 80 percent. they came out positive

More and more people willing to get vaccinated

– Let’s get vaccinated while we’re healthy. We will soon enter the flu season and it is worth combining two vaccinations – against COVID-19 and against flu. You can have both vaccinations at the same time, or you can have an interval of two or four weeks. Both are important and I recommend both not only to seniors – said Dr.Michał Matyjaszczyk, head of the Department of Family Medicine at the Institute of Polish Mother’s Health Center (ICZMP) in Łódź.

After a longer break, the vaccination center at the Polish Mother’s Memorial Hospital – Research Institute resumed its activity. According to the spokesman of the Institute, Adam Czerwiński, the interest of patients is very high – 52 people were vaccinated on Friday, while there are no more places for the next dates – August 8 and 12. Single people have a chance to sign up for vaccination on August 19 and on the next two dates. The interest in vaccinations is the result of the release by the Ministry of Health of the fourth dose of the COVID-19 vaccine for people over 60 years of age and those over 12 years of age and having indications for vaccination due to immunodeficiencies.

– That’s good news considering that in July we practically did not vaccinate against COVID-19 because there were completely no volunteers. In June, we vaccinated about 70 people, and in July, no one was vaccinated, so this is a positive trend and I think that many people have seen their eyes open. I would look for the growth of the willing in the release of the fourth dose of the vaccine for people 60+ and with reduced immunity. It seems that those people who had already taken three doses made sure to take the fourth one before the expected increased number of cases in the fall – believes Dr. Matyjaszczyk.

Despite the holiday period in the primary health care he is in charge of, a large increase in the number of patients with symptoms of infection has been recorded in recent weeks.

– We did several tests per week for COVID-19 and 80 percent. they came out positive. But we did not commission them to all those who came to us with symptoms of infection, but to those whose symptoms we had doubts about or we wanted to prove to them what they were suffering from. I think that official statistics say that there are about 5 a day. positive test results are actually about 10 percent. falling ill with COVID-19. I estimate that at the moment it may be approx. 30-40 thousand. new cases daily – said Dr. Matyjaszczyk.

In his opinion, the number of cases will increase because people do not have free access to free tests, so fewer people are tested and it is much easier to spread the infection.

– It is important that the currently most common variant of the virus causes a mild infection that does not require hospitalization and does not cause major health problems. This is how it can be assessed at the moment, but it is not known what the course of coronavirus infections will be in combination with seasonal flu and flu-like viruses. I think In the autumn, a very difficult period awaits us – even if the infections are mild, the number of cases is 10. per day will exclude large groups from normal activities – emphasized the doctor.

His observations show that in people suffering from COVID-19 recently, the symptoms typical of upper respiratory tract infections are the most common.

– The prevailing variety of the virus is very infectious and not lethal. However, these are not favorable features, because the pathogen spreads quickly, and the more infections, the greater the number of mutations created – some of them may turn out to be particularly virulent and deadly. Besides, in a situation where we have many variants of the virus, some of them will not work and we will get sick even despite being vaccinated – explained Dr. Matyjaszczyk.

You can buy a coronavirus test from Medonet Market.

The expert noted, however, that he recommends vaccinations against COVID-19, and the turn of August and September is a very good time to strengthen your immunity with this method against viruses that will certainly attack in the fall.

I would also recommend vaccination to those who have had an infection during the summer and confirmed with a test or only suspect that it was COVID-19. Of course, you should not get vaccinated until all symptoms have passed; it’s best to wait two or three weeks. We also do not count on the fact that in the next two or three months there will be a new “miracle” vaccine against COVID-19, which will be better than the ones currently available – added Dr. Matyjaszczyk.
