Toast for Breakfast – not such a rarity. And in any country of the world you’ve been to, anywhere you can enjoy the crisp toasted bread in different shapes, size and techniques of baking with different ingredients – from salty to sweet.
The classic English toast
In England a sandwich of toast is a part of a full English Breakfast. Toast served with scrambled eggs, roasted bacon, sausages and beans. Another option is toast with Marmite pasta, brown with a mixture of brewer’s yeast with herbs and spices.
French toast
France is famous for baguettes sold on every corner. For Breakfast in this country they use toast with jam. This baguette is cut in half lengthwise, smeared with butter and covered with jam or hot chocolate.
Australians eat Vegemite with bread
In Australia I like to serve the toast with Vegemite spread, which is prepared from yeast extract from the remnants of the beer wort, mixed with vegetables, salt and spices. Pasta has a very specific bitter-salty taste. Also in this country there is a sweet option – the elven bread, when the pieces of toast smeared with butter and sprinkled with multi-colored dragees.
Spanish pan con
Spaniards prefer to eat toasts with fresh tomatoes and olive oil. This snack can be enjoyed at any Spanish fast-food or restaurant.
Italian fettunta
In Italy for making bruschetta thinly sliced slab is fried to a crisp, yet warm, it is rubbed with garlic, sprinkled with sea salt and grease with olive oil.
Singaporean and Malaysian Kaya toast
In these countries, the toast toasted on both sides in the grill. Between them is a layer of Kaya jam made with coconut and eggs and a knob of butter. They make this sandwich for snacks at any time of the day.
Moroccan toast with honey
In Morocco, all meals are as simple as possible. No exception is for the toast. The bread is fried in butter and smeared with honey. Then toast is fried again, so the sugar was caramelicious. It turns out uncomplicated, but very tasty dish.
Swedish Skagen
Toast in Sweden has its name after the fishing port in Northern Denmark, it was invented in 1958 by Swedish restaurateur Round Wretman. For this dish he used toast fried in butter and spread with a salad shrimp on the top, mayonnaise, herbs and spices.
The Argentine Dulce de Leche
In Argentina they prepare sweet sauce made from caramelized condensed milk and serve it on toast. This sauce is also used as a filling for cookies, cakes and other baked goods.
Indian Bombay toast
Locals eat toast in the manner of the French, impregnated with plenty of oil. But instead of berries and jam, they add turmeric and black pepper.
