A child at 5 months does not roll over from back to stomach, why, what to do
At a certain age, children must have the appropriate skills. If the baby does not roll over at 5 months, this is normal and there is no cause for concern.
Why does the baby not roll over
The development of children takes place individually and depends on many factors. Active and full-term babies develop faster. For physical development, the weight of the child is also important, it is difficult for overweight children to roll over, they need to make an effort for this, while it is easier for thin ones, they are more mobile.
The skill of a coup from the back in a child should appear no later than 7 months, when the muscle tone passes, the child will confidently hold his head and turn it in response to his mother’s voice.
What to do to prepare your child for coups
You can start teaching coups when the child’s muscles are stronger and well developed. To do this, give your baby a firming massage, do gymnastics and swimming with him.
In addition, the baby periodically needs to be spread on the tummy, then he will begin to rise, leaning on his shoulders. Seeing the world from a different angle, he wants to repeat this movement over and over again. After a while, lying down, he will begin to sway and try to throw his body on its side. These actions are prerequisites for a future coup.
Exercises for flipping from back to stomach
You can teach a child to roll over with the help of these exercises:
- Spread a towel or diaper on a flat surface. Place the child on it and gently lift the towel from one end, rolling the child slightly. He will like these actions, and he will want to repeat them on his own.
- Lay out bright toys next to the lying child, do it so that he can take them only by reaching for them. During this time, hold your child’s arm and leg.
- Place your baby on a gymnastic ball with their belly. Hold his leg with one hand, and fix the body with the other. Smoothly swing the baby in a springy, circular motion.
- Lay the baby on the shoulder blades, hold the left leg so that it does not bend. Smoothly bring your right leg behind your left. After that, bring your elbow out. This exercise allows you to show your child the slowed-down process of the coup. Do this exercise several times a day, 3 times per set.
Any activity with a child should be in the form of a game, arouse his interest and give pleasure. You shouldn’t force him to do it.
Help your child learn a new action, and when the child learns to roll over, do not leave him unattended.
