A child at 2 years old has a temperature of 39 without symptoms, signs of a cold: what to do
If a child has a temperature of 2 ° C at 39 years old, parents need to provide him with first aid before visiting a doctor. The main thing is to really help the baby without harming him.
Why does a child have a fever without symptoms or signs of a cold
A classic cold with fever, cough and runny nose does not frighten mom. It is a common disease in children and is not difficult to treat.
However, there are situations when, in addition to temperature, there are no more symptoms. In this case, it is caused by the following reasons:
- Temperature of non-infectious origin. This can include overheating in the sun or overheating due to overly warm clothing. Even if the child runs heavily and warms up, his temperature may rise.
- Teething. Usually, the temperature from this appears in infants, but since milk teeth are cut until 2,5-3 years old, sometimes the temperature due to them can rise in older children.
- Viral or bacterial infection. Viral diseases are usually not accompanied by other unpleasant manifestations besides fever and, as a rule, go away on their own. But bacteria, on the contrary, always manifest themselves in different ways and do not pass without the help of drugs.
A bacterial infection can occur in a child without other symptoms, in one single case it is a urinary tract infection. Adults in this case feel pain, often run to the toilet, and babies do not have such symptoms.
What to do if the temperature does not go astray
First of all, in this situation, you need to make the child sweat a lot. Give him plenty of drink. Plain warm water is best. Lower the temperature in the room where the patient lies to cool, but at the same time wrap him well.
If all this does not work, give your baby an antipyretic. You have to be very careful with him. Use only baby pills recommended by your doctor. Usually this is Ibuprofen or Nurofen.
Antipyretic also induces active sweating, as it affects the brain.
If the pill did not help either, be sure to call an ambulance. Do not use physical methods to cool the child until the doctors arrive. Applying ice, wet cold towels, wrapping in wet sheets are all ineffective and dangerous.
Being a parent is difficult and responsible. You need to know all the basic reasons that can cause a temperature in a young child. In addition, you should know about all the pre-medical ways to help a child in this situation.
