A 25-year-old woman has been storing food for future use: a photo of her pantry

An entire room in her house is occupied with food for a rainy day.

It would seem, what is the point of a citizen of the civilized West to stock up on food? It is with us, with our Soviet past and the genetic memory of a total deficit, that we have a desire to buy a little salt, matches and buckwheat. But no. All people are the same. The proof of this is the resident of Australia, who has been storing food for future use for 25 years since 1995.

This is how store shelves looked in the West when the coronavirus panic began

The woman shared pictures of her pantry, which she replenishes every week. It turns out that in her house, a whole separate bedroom is set aside for storing supplies. There are two freezers of 1000 liters each and a lot of shelves filled with food.

“My supplies literally saved us during the flood that happened 10 years ago. And when hysteria began due to the coronavirus pandemic, I was calm: I knew that my family would not be left without food, ”the woman explains.

There are frozen vegetables, meat, desserts in the freezers. They are enough for a family of seven adults, three teenagers, two dogs and a cat for six months.

“I always know exactly where what lies. I have everything laid out on the shelves, – continues the thrifty champion. “Once every two weeks I buy fruits and vegetables, and long-term products and household goods – once a month in a large supermarket.”

She spends about $ 2500 every three months on canned and processed foods. In the pantry there are huge plastic buckets with the words: flour, oatmeal, custard, pasta. The hostess puts a bay leaf in each bucket – in her opinion, it scares off harmful insect pests with its smell. Jars of olives and huge bags of pasta sit side by side with bottles of shower gel and other washing supplies, packs of toilet paper and stacks of disposable dishes.

In addition, the shelves are full of long-term storage milk, including almond milk, preparations for desserts: biscuits, waffles. There are popcorn, crackers, instant coffee, regular bottled water and sodas. Of course, sauces and cocoa, nuts and dried fruits.

The woman bakes bread herself, she also prefers to prepare desserts from semi-finished products. Everything that the family eats during the week is replenished on the next trip to the store.

By the way, the woman passed on this passion for hoarding to her children. They also buy food in bulk.

“I pride myself on my talent for keeping my pantry full at all times. I work, do everything around the house and make sure that there is always a supply of food, ”she wrote.
