Interested in Vestfrost dishwasher errors? This means that the next inclusion of equipment turned into a breakdown or blocking of the functionality. If an incomprehensible code lights up on the PMM display, do not panic. So the dishwasher is trying to tell you exactly where the problem happened. What do the codes mean and how to restart the machine?
How are Westfrost fault codes deciphered?
Of course, electronic control is designed to facilitate the operation of equipment. It is good when the display shows the selected programs or the time until the end of the cycle. The same goes for breakdowns. Imagine you loaded dirty dishes into the bin, started the car, but it does not react in any way. Where to look for the reason? Here, in this case, the manufacturer has provided error codes. Each combination of letters and numbers indicates a specific breakdown. What? Let’s get a look:
- F5 – this breakdown code indicates poor water supply. What could have happened? Make sure the stop valve is fully open. Perhaps it is only half open. Check the mesh filter on the inlet hose, the part is often clogged with small debris.
- F3 – the value of the error is as follows: water continuously enters the bunker. First, turn off the faucet. The reason may be in the fill valve. Probably, the device is out of order, so the damper does not close and allows water to pass through. Valve replacement required.
- F2 – liquid does not drain. What does it mean? There was a blockage in the PMM. The filter or drain hose of the equipment could be clogged. How to fix? Drain the water and clean the parts from clogging.
- F8 – problems with the heating element. If a similar error appears, then you need to inspect and clean the element from scale or replace it during combustion.
- F1 is an alarm, which means that the machine has a leak. You need to look for the cause in the rubber seals of the door and pump, in the connections of hoses and pipes, in the water tank.
- FE – problems with the electronic module. It is better not to repair electronics with your own hands, but immediately contact a service center.
- F7 – error indicates overheating. Check the temperature sensor, heating element, water pressure in the nozzles. In the latter case, due to poor flow, overheating occurs.
- F9 – incorrect position of the divider. It is better to contact the master.
- F6 – failure of the heater sensor. Replace defective part.
It also happens that the error code occurs due to a system failure. In such cases, rebooting the equipment will help. How to restart PMM:
- Unplug the dishwasher.
- Wait 10-15 minutes.
- Turn it on and look at the screen.
If the symbols have disappeared, then everything is in order. If they reappear, then you need to look for the cause and carry out repairs.
Repair of malfunctions of the Vestfrost dishwasher
Malfunctions can be divided into two categories – those that arise due to improper operation, and serious breakdowns. Every user encounters errors in operation. For example, stains remain on the dishes after washing. Do you think the dishwasher is to blame? Not always, perhaps, you just need to pour the salt into the container.
To repair a malfunction, consider typical problems and how to resolve them.
Causes of breakdowns of the Westfrost dishwasher
Why does the equipment refuse to work normally? In addition to the error codes listed, there are brand-specific problems. Here they are:
- The selected mode does not start. The problem may lie in the banal shutdown of water or electricity. Also, the reason for this is the reloading of the hopper, when the dishes interfere with the closing of the door. It is impossible to exclude clogging of the inlet and drain filters.
- Detergent remains in the powder container. What are the reasons? The powder was poured into a wet dispenser, the hole was clogged, the water pressure was weak. If nothing helps at all, then the heater, pump and intake valve are checked.
- Water remains in the bunker. In addition to blockage, the cause may be a kinked drain hose.
- PMM stopped during washing. Perhaps standby mode is on? They could also turn off the electricity or stop the water supply.
- During washing, loud noises and impacts are heard. It’s a matter of improperly arranged dishes.
- After washing, there were pieces of food left on the dishes. First of all, eliminate such errors: overload, incorrect positioning of dishes or program selection. Next, check the filter, sprayers, pump for blockage.
- The door is not closed properly. The problem is in the tension of the spring and the installation of the door.
Now you know why the dishwasher may not work normally. How to deal with breakdowns without leaving home? Below are the malfunctions and options for self-correction.
The program does not start
What to do? If the reboot did not help, turn off the tap and check for water. Make sure nothing is preventing the door from closing. Pull out excess items or place them more compactly. Eliminate the possibility of blockage in the intake filter. For this:
- Find the place where the inlet hose is connected to the PMM body.
- Close the inlet valve.
- Unscrew the hose and remove the mesh, which is installed directly in front of the inlet valve.
- Rinse it with water, in case of serious blockage, clean it with citric acid.
The drain filter is located at the bottom of the dishwasher. Here are the instructions for clearing the blockage:
- Open the PMM door and take out the baskets.
- Unscrew the filter, remove the mesh from below.
- Shine a flashlight into the hole and remove the items stuck there. Be careful, broken dishes may have fallen into the drain.
- Also clean using citric acid, soda, powder.
Remains of detergent in the hopper
Inspect the dispenser, rinse from powder residue. The cause of poor pressure can be either a lack of pressure in the water supply or clogged nozzles. If in the first case nothing depends on you, then you can clean the nozzles yourself like this:
- Take the baskets out of the bin.
- Remove the atomizer.
- Use a toothpick to clean small holes from debris.
It doesn’t hurt to inspect the intake valve. It has already been described above how to unscrew the hose and remove the filter. Next, inspect the valve itself for possible blockage.
The fact is that the powder can be poorly washed out due to cold water, which does not dissolve the granules well. Therefore, you need to check the heating element. There is a flow element under the bottom of the PMM in conjunction with a drain pump. It’s easy to clean the pump at the same time. Diagnostics of the element is carried out by a tester with a multimeter. How to replace the heater is described in the video:
Water remains in the PMM
In a normal situation, about 1 cm of clean water remains at the bottom of the machine, which prevents the sealing gums from drying out. If at the bottom you see liquid with food debris, then there is a problem that needs to be solved.
- Examine the drain hose. It must not be twisted or crushed by foreign objects. The correct connection of the drain is also important. If the outlet is high, then it is more difficult for the pump to cope with the work. Disconnect the hose and clear the blockage.
- Check the pump. In such cases, the pump turns on and off, which is why the liquid does not drain well. In the event of a malfunction, the pump must be replaced.
The most common cause of stagnant water is a banal blockage. Still, PMM washes dishes, on which pieces of food often remain. Just in case, we give an example of a video on replacing the pump:
Dishwasher stuck in the middle of a cycle
The washer started normally, but in the process the equipment stops and does not continue to work. Here’s what to check:
- Correct mode selection. The standby (pause) button may have been accidentally pressed.
- The presence of water. Open the faucet. No water? So, the reason is found, it remains to wait.
- Network connection. Firmly press the plug into the outlet.
- Pump impeller. Perhaps it is clogged with food debris or broken dishes.
To check the impeller, proceed as follows:
- Disconnect the machine from the mains and water supply.
- Take out the bottom basket.
- Unscrew the drain filter.
- Remove any remaining water with a sponge.
- Push the pump cover inward until you hear a click, then pull up and out.
- Access to the impeller is open. Remove clogs by wearing gloves.
Machine operation is accompanied by loud sounds
Details of the operation of the PMM are described in detail in the instructions. The main thing to remember:
- Do not place plates close to each other. This not only leads to rattling and breaking of dishes, but also interferes with the access of water. As a result, you will get poorly washed appliances.
- When placing large dishes with handles, make sure that they do not interfere with closing the door.
- Do not load the hopper to capacity, even if there is room. Otherwise, the dishes will have to be washed.
Try to load appliances according to the rules, then the machine will work quietly and efficiently.
The same applies to the problem when pieces of food remain on the dishes. First of all, change the degree of loading, and then check the system for blockage. It may be worth choosing a longer program.
Poor door closing
First, check that there is no foreign object interfering with the closure. Next, check out:
- Sealant. If the rubber around the perimeter has dried out and deformed, then replacement is required.
- Dishwasher installation. If the equipment is standing on an uneven surface, then the door is skewed. Carry out the installation according to the instructions, tighten the legs.
- Springs. Make sure the springs are not stretched and are functioning properly.
The video details the steps to replace the door seal:
Users also complain about problems caused by errors in operation. For example:
- Whitish or rusty spots on dishes.
- Poor drying of appliances.
Most often, it is worth changing the dosage of detergent, using salt correctly and setting the program, giving the machine more time to complete the cycle.
To avoid such problems, carefully read the instructions for the dishwasher. Carefully remove food residues before loading and clean the filters from clogging in a timely manner.
