9 months old baby and no teeth: how much should be, reasons, what to do

The first teeth in infants normally erupt at the age of 4-7 months. But all the crumbs are individual. If a child has no teeth at 9 months, then it is not always worth sounding the alarm. It may be a sign of a rare disease – anodontia, but not always. The doctor will help you figure it out.

It is difficult to predict when the first tooth will appear. For each baby, this process is individual, and in boys it erupts later than in girls.

Why does the baby have no teeth at 9 months?

The following factors affect the appearance of teeth:

  • Heredity. You should not wait for the first tooth until 9 months if it appeared in both parents after 1 year.
  • Infectious diseases of the mother during pregnancy. If a woman was sick in the period from 6 to 14 weeks, then this will negatively affect the condition of the baby’s teeth.
  • Unhealthy lifestyle of the mother during pregnancy.
  • Severe illnesses of the crumbs in the first months of life, for example, rubella, syphilis, gastrointestinal tract disorders. During this period, enamel and dentin are formed.
  • Rickets, vitamin A, B, D, E deficiency, as well as calcium and fluoride deficiency.
  • Thickening of the baby’s gums.
  • Individual features of the development of the crumb.

Anodontia may be a rare but possible reason for missing teeth at 9 months. It is a genetic disorder in which there are no teeth on the cob.

What to do if there are no teeth at 9 months

It is worth waiting until the child is 1 year old. Often the first tooth can be found just after the birthday celebration. The symptoms of eruption are as follows:

  • the baby is moody and whiny, does not sleep well at night;
  • constantly pulls his hands into his mouth, bites everything;
  • saliva flows profusely from the mouth of the crumbs;
  • the child has swollen and red gums;
  • body temperature may rise, diarrhea or vomiting may appear.

If after 1 year there are no teeth, and there are no symptoms of their appearance, then show the child to the doctor. You can check for the presence of dental cobs using an X-ray examination.

How many teeth should a nine month old baby have?

On average, at this age, there are 5 of them. The upper and lower anterior incisors appear, as well as one lateral incisor. But this is the norm, which not all children comply with, and you should not worry about it.

To speed up the eruption, let the crumb gnaw on crackers or carrots.

Solid foods rub the gums and stimulate the growth of teeth. If you are afraid that the crumb can bite off the biscuit and choke, then buy special rubber rings – teethers, which are sold in pharmacies and children’s stores.

Not a single child was left without teeth, so parents should be patient and wait. To speed up the teething process, it is necessary to supplement the diet with calcium-containing foods.
