The Five Freedoms
The Five Freedoms were enunciated by the Farm Animal Welfare Council in 1992 and have been incorporated into the definition of animal welfare from the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE).
They are now a benchmark in the field: not suffering from hunger or thirst, not suffering from discomfort, not suffering from pain, injury or disease, being able to express the natural behaviors specific to the species. and not experience fear or distress.
