8 Russian habits that surprise the Chinese

A blogger from the Celestial Empire spoke about the “shocking” preferences of the Russians.

A user of the Chinese portal Sina recently assessed Russians’ meat preferences, suggesting that some of them are “shocking.” According to him, Russians eat meat much more often than Chinese and cook it in a completely different way. We have compiled a list of the habits of Russians that surprise and bewilder the Chinese.

 1. Barbecue

Russian kebab is the complete opposite of Chinese.

“It is measured in kilograms, these are by no means small skewers with pieces of meat. To make the meat fatty and juicy, it is baked on steel skewers, ”the Chinese describes the Russian dish.

What is good for a Russian, then a Chinese? ..

2. Lard

In addition to the barbecue, the user Sina was also impressed by the bacon, he also separately noted the love of the peoples of the north for venison.

“When we look at such fatty pork, we get a lump in our throat, and for Russians it’s a wonderful delicacy,” the post says.

3. Slippers

The Chinese, unlike us, do not take off their street shoes at home, they wear slippers only if they do not go out all day. And our habit of inviting guests to take off their shoes and put on slippers makes them bewildered.

Who would have thought? They also think we are a little weird!

4. Soup as a first course

A huge number of different soups are prepared in Russia. And it’s not only about the love of borscht, but also about the belief that soups are very useful for health. But in China there is no so-called first course for lunch at all.

5. A lot of bread

The Chinese do not understand our desire to eat bread with almost all dishes. Bread is an irreplaceable attribute on our table, which is practically not eaten in China.

6. Canning for the winter

Many Russian housewives still observe the tradition of making jam and pickles in the fall. Everything that is grown in dachas and vegetable gardens must be preserved for the winter. The Chinese believe that these are special delicacies that Russian women are proud of.

7. Tea as a symbol of hospitality

The Chinese are surprised by our habit of offering tea to our guests on the doorstep. All conversations will be conducted over tea, and delicious treats must be served with the drink. In China, guests are usually not offered anything at all.

8. Storage of old things

Bags in bags, boxes and packaging, old photos – this and much more can be easily found in almost every apartment. Russian people keep these things just in case. This habit has developed in people since the times of the Soviet Union and, one can say, has already become an integral part of the Russian mentality.
