How to get rid of addiction to nose drops?

The addiction to nose drops is very dangerous, it can happen to each of us and will happen for sure. There is an internal mechanism for the release of adrenaline into the inferior turbinate, and if a person sprinkles vasoconstrictor drops into the nose, then in about a month this mechanism will be disrupted and the body will no longer release adrenaline. And the nose will stop breathing as it did before. Therefore, when a runny nose occurs, it is very important not to become addicted to vasoconstrictor drops and, if possible, not to use them. And if it is impossible to endure, then use them for no more than a week, since after this period the risk of getting used to the drops is very high.

What is the best treatment for a runny nose?

A runny nose is accompanied by swelling of the mucous membrane, and therefore during this period it is necessary to take pharmaceutical antiallergic drugs. The second option is to rinse the nasal cavity. If the mucus in the nose is clear and drains well, then saline solutions can be used. But salt should not be abused, because it will dry out the nasal cavity. Ideally, these are pharmaceutical products with an optimal concentration of special salt. Salt is needed in order to adsorb mucous masses. And the third option is antiseptics for the nasal cavity on a water basis (not alcohol).

Is it true that if you remove the tonsils, you will hurt less?

It is a myth. If the patient has already developed a paratonsillar (peri-medial) abscess and irreversible changes in the internal organs (kidneys, joints, heart) have developed, then the tonsils must be removed. And if these are just plugs that bother the patient from time to time, then the removal of the tonsils is unreasonable, they should be removed only for strict medical reasons. It is also important to remember that the tonsils are a protective factor at the level of the pharynx, and after their removal, a person will definitely not become stronger.

Can I clean my ears with cotton swabs?

The shape and size of the external auditory canal is different for everyone. And the narrower the ear canal, the higher the likelihood of driving the sulfur masses deep into the ear canal. Therefore, technically, a person does not extract sulfur, but, like a ramrod for a gun, drives the sulfur masses deeper and deeper. And if the ear canal is wide, then the sulfur masses themselves easily come out of the ear canal, for example, when washing the head. Therefore, when cleaning the ear canal with cotton swabs, you need to be extremely careful.

Can you become deaf or damage your hearing if you often listen to music with headphones?

Yes, you can. With an excessive auditory load, the hair cells of the auditory nerve will simply die off. And as we know, nerve cells are not restored. The most dangerous headphones are earbuds (earbuds), which are inserted directly into the external ear canal, so the contact with the eardrum is very close. Cheap single-channel headphones are also very dangerous. The higher the quality of the headphones, the lower the volume will need to be turned on to listen to music.

Is it true that after removing the adenoids, you can eat ice cream in any quantity?

Adenoids are usually a childhood story. In adulthood, they are rarely removed. Cold reduces mucous membranes well and has a hemostatic effect. It is not for nothing that when a nose is injured, they apply cold to the nose, here the situation is the same. Since the removal of the adenoids is a mechanical operation, the child is given ice cream, and the inflammation in his nasopharynx stops.

Why drip into your nose if your ears hurt?

When a person drops medicine into the nose, it passes into the nasopharynx. In it, the pharyngeal orifices of the auditory tubes open, the medicine enters the auditory tube, and then the “airiness” is restored. Air enters the middle ear through the auditory tube. Ventilation is restored, and the contents (mucus in the middle ear) begin to flow out, tissue tension goes away, and the person becomes comfortable. Therefore, burying in the nose is a prerequisite for otitis media.

Why is there a high probability of recurrence after the first otitis media?

The eardrum, behind the eardrum, is covered with a mucous membrane that is very delicate. And when inflammation occurs, the mucous membrane is in a “tense” state (it easily reacts to inflammation and hypothermia), so repeated outbreaks of the disease are possible.
