In the spring you always want to change something, to bring a new stream during life. Especially now, when, willy-nilly, there is time to meditate on choosing the right option. Why not start with the kitchen? There are several ways to transform it in a budget-friendly way.

1. Paint the walls and ceiling
Painting walls and ceilings can be fun (or a challenge) for the whole family. Like in a movie, where young couples or parents with children in cute overalls laugh and joke, wielding paint rollers. It’s not a fact, of course, that it will turn out like in a movie, but it’s worth a try.
The kitchen belongs to humid rooms. The paint for it must be washable, moisture-resistant, dirt-resistant. Semi-matte and matte options are optimal, since glossy ones create unnecessary glare and emphasize different spots better. Walls painted in one tone look very stylish.
2. Replace hanging cabinets with open shelves or metal frames
When the kitchen is small, you can try replacing wall cabinets with hanging shelves. This modern technique will give the kitchen a zest, especially if you buy sets of identical containers for storing cereals and spices – for example, glass containers look very interesting. The main thing is uniformity.
Another way is to remove the doors from the cabinets. There will be only boxes with shelves inside. If they are neat, with thoughtful storage containers, they will look stylish. But only in this case.
You can also consider a shelf-frame for the kitchen – this is a prefabricated structure for organizing a storage system. It consists of a black metal frame and a glass shelf. Due to the transparency of the glass, the shelf looks airy and light, does not clutter up the space. Suitable for storing kitchen utensils, souvenirs, decorative knick-knacks. The shelf is open from all sides – there are no back and side walls.
3. Choose a modular kitchen
The advantage of a kitchen made up of one-piece modules is that you can always swap the cabinets or, for example, put a solid worktop on them to give the headset a finished look. Plus, modular kitchen cabinets don’t cost you much, they are easy to assemble and install. This option is suitable for both modest and spacious kitchens. The choice of facades – pine, oak, mint, walnut, etc. – will allow you to embody different ideas and refresh the appearance.
It is quite possible to assemble a modular kitchen yourself according to the instructions, which will significantly save you money. In addition, the modules are easy to replace in the future, if any of them, for example, gets worn out. As a rule, construction hypermarkets update their collections every season, offering quite budget options.
4. Buy new accessories
If the kitchen unit is in good condition and you don’t want to change it, you can freshen up their look by changing the handles. The cabinet doors are constantly opened and closed, from this the handles gradually lose their appearance, fade. If you are not tired of the kitchen set, you just need to change the handles. The main thing is that the size of the new ones coincides with the old ones, then you don’t have to drill other holes for them. You can pick up handles similar to the old ones (if they fit well with the style of the kitchen), or look for something completely new. There are handles in modern and classic styles, smooth chrome or antique carved, with imitation of animals, flowers and leaves, transparent or colored – whatever your heart desires.
The most practical, concise and therefore common are handles-staples, which can be ideally matched to the size. Sink handles are also popular; their unusual shape can visually soften the angularity of drawers and doors.
5. Think over the accents
Accessories make the interior harmonious and complete. Several sets of curtains, matched to the mood or the season, completely transform the kitchen. It will change every time you want it. Bright pillows on chairs, posters or paintings diversify the interior. If you have a kitchen in light colors, it is better to emphasize this with stylish details from ready-made solutions that can be easily found in specialized departments.
Add charm: use floral textiles, potted flowers and white plates with peonies. Experiment with “Scandinavian character traits”: remove the tablecloth from the wooden table and curtains, hang blinds, put bright containers and containers for bulk products on open shelves. This way you can work with each style, thoughtfully combining details.
Another useful and versatile accessory can be roof rails: they are suitable for a high-tech or loft kitchen, as well as for a more modest kitchen in a modern style.
6. Change the kitchen apron
The area above the stove and countertop, as a rule, suffers from dirt: all kinds of grease and oil stains, cooking heat … In general, the load on the kitchen apron is always increased. Therefore, it should be changed from time to time. For example, buy wall panels in a building hypermarket – this is a budget and practical replacement for the usual kitchen backsplash made of tiles.
7. Install useful gadgets
Refresh not only the look of your kitchen, but also its functionality. For example, you can install a water filter or a household waste disposer (disposer). It sits in a siphon under the sink and helps to quickly dispose of food debris and avoid blockages. The disposer grinds eggshells, peels of vegetables and fruits, small bones, fruit seeds, as well as some non-food waste – paper towels, napkins.
