Wear light-colored clothes, stay in the shade, drink plenty of water, eat only light food… All these methods of dealing with heat have long been known and tested by us many times. Yes, they help, but not as much as we would like. We share a selection of ways that you might not know about. Try at least one of them to make life easier on hot days.
1. Eat spicy
It sounds terrible, but spicy foods, by irritating skin receptors, make us sweat. And the evaporation of sweat cools the body. It turns out that jalapeno peppers are more of a friend than an enemy in summer.
2. Drink coconut water…
Coconut water has a cooling property, which makes it a great alternative to regular water. It also helps prevent heat stroke. If you don’t like coconuts, check out our selection of the most unusual drinks that will help you survive the heat (and please your taste buds).
3….Or hot tea
As with spicy foods, it’s all about the sweat. When we drink a hot drink, the body increases its excretion. Sweat evaporates – the body cools down. But this trick only works if evaporation is possible – that is, definitely not in an area with high humidity.
4. Breathe and meditate
Have you noticed that during the heat, animals sleep a lot and try especially not to move? This way they keep their strength. And we, too, should not burden ourselves with business or run for a walk in the heat.
Meditation and breathing exercises, such as pranayama, do not require physical effort from us, but they can reduce body temperature. It doesn’t matter if you have done this before or not – the main thing is to take your mind off the sweltering heat and focus on the body.
5. Freeze rice
Ice is the most obvious way to cool tired skin, but it tends to melt, leaving puddles of water on clothes, skin, and everything it touches. Therefore, it is worth looking at rice. Put it in a bag or cloth bag and leave it in the freezer for a while. It will cool you no worse than ice, but it will not leave any traces.
6. Skip ice cream
Another blasphemous offer, but worth it. The fact is that the high fat content in a cold dessert complicates the process of its digestion. To cope with it, the body spends additional energy, and thereby involuntarily raises body temperature. So it will be much better if instead of ice cream or popsicle you choose sorbet or popsicles.
7. Use perfume
But not the ones that come to hand first, because the composition is important in this matter. So, to reduce body temperature, sandalwood oil is often used. Therefore, for the summer it is better to choose a fragrance with it – and you will smell nice, and you will begin to feel much more comfortable.
