7 unusual uses for salt

It is difficult to imagine a house in which she would not be. But few people know that salt can be used for more than cooking.

“Salt between us” – so the Indians used to say when they wanted to inform someone about the insult. “We ate a pood of salt” – this is what we say when we want to emphasize a long-standing close relationship. Robinson and Friday fought over the salt – the savage was categorically against this seasoning. But we want to talk not about the role of salt in art, but about its unusual properties.

If there is a sediment from flowers on your favorite vase, it can be “cured”. Just rub the dirt with salt, rinse with water and the glass will shine like new. The same can be done with the leaves of artificial plants: immerse them in a saline solution and hold for a while – there will be no trace of doubtful stains.

Shop shelves are littered with various bath cleaning products. Few people know that you can save money on their purchase by resorting to the help of salt and turpentine. Mix these two ingredients in a 1: 1 ratio. Apply the mixture to a sponge and wipe down the tub. Rinse off the remains with warm water. After this procedure, your bath will become snow-white.

Our main complaint about the dishwashing sponge is that it instantly takes on an unpresentable look, although nothing is used with it. It can be reanimated by soaking it overnight in a saline solution: a quarter cup of salt per liter of water. And if a new broom is held for 20 minutes in a similar solution, only hot, it will last longer.

If the sink is clogged, that’s half the trouble. It is quite easy to clean it: any woman knows how to masterfully unroll the “knee” under the sink and remove everything unnecessary from there. But with the drain in the bathtub is more difficult. There you need to purchase a pipe cleaner. Or simply mix a glass of baking soda with a quarter of a glass of salt and pour this into the drain. Then pour half a cup of vinegar. After 15 minutes, all this must be thoroughly washed off with hot water – 15 minutes. There will be no trace of the blockage.

Are there red wine stains on the carpet or clothes? Apply a wet salt gruel over the top. Leave it on for 20-30 minutes, then wash with hot water. By the way, salt works well with greasy stains if you don’t have time to wash them thoroughly. Just sprinkle the greasy stain with salt, then the grease will not spread further on the clothes.

If your home is suddenly attacked by ants and there is no special remedy at hand, use salt. Place it near doors, windows, or right on the ant path. This will help stop the invasion for a while. But still, for a while, until you run to the store for a powerful insecticide or call a special service. Ants are very tenacious, so it is not easy to get them out.

Not every dishwasher will cope with modern lipstick stains on a glass, for example. Apply salt to the edge of the dish and then put it in the dishwasher. And a mixture of vinegar and salt added to the water can help remove yellow stains on glass: just soak faded glass in this solution.
