7 types of self-tanning

Artificial tanning products are not the easiest category of cosmetics to use. To get a good result, you need to know how to use them. The right choice is also important. Let’s talk about this in more detail.

What is self-tanning

Self-tanner is a beauty product that allows you to get a dark skin tone without sun exposure. They are convenient to use at any time of the year. The main active ingredient in the formulas is dihydroxyacetone. It is this that gives auto bronzers a not very pleasant smell, but in recent years, manufacturers have learned to mask it and make it almost invisible.

Types of tanning

Means for artificial tanning differ in the form of release. What are they like?

1. Cream

Classics of the genre. As a rule, cream self-tanners are slightly lighter in consistency than conventional face and body creams. The point is functionality: a product with a light texture is more evenly distributed and absorbed faster.

2. Jelly, gel

The bonus of this format is the feeling of coolness when applied. An indispensable quality for a hot summer.

3. Milk

Along with the cream, one of the usual forms of release. Applies evenly without leaving streaks or stains.

4. Spray

The spray has three advantages:

  • applied quickly;

  • the shade appears immediately;

  • allows you to adjust the tone.

Spray on the skin from a distance of about 30 cm, spread, let dry.

5. Napkins

Relatively new development. Napkins are great for brightening up skin tones or just refreshing a self-tanning effect. It is enough just to run them over the skin to see the result after a while.

6. Cushion

Strictly speaking, this is a tube with a sponge applicator. The invention is very convenient: it allows you to apply self-tanning more evenly than using your palms. You can read about cushions here.

7. Booster

It’s a small bottle of dark liquid. Three or four drops of the product are added to a regular face or body cream to make it tinted. The effect is cumulative, that is, the skin will acquire a swarthy color not immediately, but after several sessions.

In addition to self-tanners, there are products that can give the skin a bronzed tone before the first trip to the shower. These formulas are instantly absorbed, do not leave marks on clothes (although it is better not to experiment with a snow-white fabric just in case) and even out the tone of any part of the body.
