Do you often meet happy people—really happy people? Alas. The current situation has knocked down many – it has cut the ground from under their feet, increased the level of anxiety, increased the fear of tomorrow. And yet those who right now are satisfied with their lives are very close, among us. And that’s what makes them different from the rest.
1. They don’t judge others.
The situation with the pandemic and quarantine has led to the fact that we began to criticize and condemn others more often – individuals, our own government and entire countries. For non-compliance with the mask regime, insufficient measures, for the fact that our health and life were at such a risk.
Happy people also have their own point of view, beliefs – just protecting them, they do not attack anyone. As the American writer Wayne Dyer said, when we judge others, it says nothing about them, but defines who we are. Those who are happy are able to sympathize with others, to enter into their situation, saving criticism for themselves.
2. They don’t care about what people think of them.
They know that there will always be someone who does not like them, who will actively demonstrate their dislike to them. And do not neglect negative feedback, knowing how useful it can be, but do not take it to heart, do not act, guided by the opinions of others. They don’t get stuck in the past or hold on to grudges. They live their lives making their own plans and letting others do the same.
3. They don’t want to be in control.
Trying to constantly control everything is a sure way to stress, especially in our unstable world. Happy people understand that it is impossible to constantly keep abreast, and any, even carefully thought-out plans, sometimes go to waste. They don’t need XNUMX% certainty and predictability to feel good. They control what they can, and in which case they readily give in to the flow.
4. They know how to have fun
Of course, not everything and not always goes smoothly for them, but they know how to go through life easily. They, as a rule, have a sense of humor, they can find joy in a variety of things – both in traveling around the world and in friendly gatherings in the kitchen.
They know how to enjoy the moment. And the time spent in their company is guaranteed to bring you pleasure.
5. They know the measure in everything
Mood, emotions, alcohol, sex, social networks, work, sleep – they know how dangerous it is to overdo it all, both for themselves and for those around them. They do not have to painfully remember what happened the day before.
Happy people have self-regulatory skills, which means they almost never have to regret their actions – including in relation to others. Because of this, they live in peace with themselves.
6. They prefer living in the here and now.
Do you think these people necessarily strive for grandiose goals? This is nothing more than a myth. Some really want to achieve more, but most are quite content with their daily lives and enjoy what lies right in front of them. “Achievement” is not their story at all. They are driven by the desire to make the world a better place, to bring something into it.
How? Gardening or playing with children, playing music or playing sports, experimenting in the kitchen or making up stories, painting or fixing something. Happy people know how to appreciate someone else’s and their own contribution to this world.
7. They take life lightly
Many of us spend our best years climbing the corporate ladder or agonizing over our place in the world. Neither is worth it, and happy people know this instinctively.
They, as mentioned above, take life lightly – and, as time shows, this is the greatest skill that one can possess.
