December is the time to close deadlines at work, cross things off your personal to-do list, and shop for Christmas dresses, Christmas decorations, and holiday food. How to spend December as productively and confidently as possible to enter the new year?
Life coach Elise Santilli is sure that in order to meet the coming year fully prepared, it is worth temporarily pushing small issues into the background and focusing on the main thing — analysis and planning for the future course. Here are her tips.
1. Don’t make a fuss
Perhaps you have a long list of gifts to buy and things to do. And also those crowds in malls and traffic jams… But if you live in the present moment, keep awareness and a grateful attitude towards life, this period will be as calm as any other. The level of calm for the most part depends on the attitude to the situation.
So take a few deep breaths, find a reason to be grateful or smile, now is the time for that.
2. Learn from emotions
The holiday season involves meetings with relatives. Sometimes this is not easy for us or causes mixed feelings. But people with whom communication provokes strong emotional reactions in us are our main teachers. These surges provide an opportunity to look within and reach new levels of forgiveness, love, self-awareness, or personal power that we were not aware of.
3. Analyze the outgoing year
December is the perfect time to analyze the previous 12 months of life and draw conclusions. Ask yourself what events made you happy, what did not turn out the way you would like, what you learned about yourself and the world around you over the past year. Answering these questions will help you prepare for the coming year and have a good time.
4. Let go of what needs to be let go
The holiday season is a time to get rid of what is no longer useful. What old grievances, regrets or mistakes prevent you from moving forward? What stereotypes about yourself are holding you back from success? Maybe you think you’re not talented enough? Are you ready to let it all go?
December is a busy month, but that’s why energizing activities are especially needed.
You may want to triple the spring cleaning and clear the space around you. Clear cabinets, drawers, and file folders. Throw away anything you no longer need or don’t like. So you will create an energy space for new goals and aspirations.
5. Announce goals
Take the time to figure out what you really want from the next 6-12 months. It’s time to decide on aspirations, values, goals, a plan of action and a way of thinking. It’s never too late to change your life. Deep self-examination and good planning work wonders.
6. Remember that you are not alone.
Drowning in to-do lists and suffering from stress? Reach out to someone close. Don’t know how to realize your aspirations? Find a mentor. If you’re determined to achieve your goals, you’re bound to meet the right people, find the right opportunities, and find the right ideas.
7. Focus on what matters
Remember what helps you feel energetic and full of energy: meditation, playing sports? Or maybe journaling or outdoor recreation? Or inspirational films, books, heart-to-heart talks? Despite being busy, do what helps you, nourishes you. Of course, December is a busy month, but that is why energizing activities are especially needed.
Try to stay true to what’s important to you. To do this, stop and ask yourself a few questions: Do I really want this? Is this how I want to be?
Remember what really matters: love, integrity, inner peace, personal growth, happiness, deep connections, mindfulness, minimalism, friendship, forgiveness, peace, self-confidence, and personal strength. Take this with you into the coming year.
