4. Feedback on the work
Start with neutral and negative opinions, from which you can understand the peculiarities of the doctor’s work – his manner of administering a reception or how he prescribes drugs. Only after that is it worth reading the positive ones, in them you can often see the professional characteristics of the doctor. At the same time, consider how important the controversial aspects of negative reviews are for you: are you willing to tolerate an authoritarian treatment model in order to recover?
5. Additional Information
In addition to the opinions of patients, sites with reviews contain important information about the doctor: length of service, academic degree, refresher courses, etc. For some, it may be an academic degree that is important, for others – the number of years in practice.
Tip: it is better to choose a doctor with an experience of 5 years or more, and the title of candidate of medical sciences plays a minimal role in treatment.
6. Doctor’s experience
The ideal combination is work in both public and private clinics. As a rule, several doctors work in a state medical institution, a young specialist learns from more experienced ones. In private clinics, doctors of the same specialty are often not interested in helping each other.
7. Responding to reviews
Read the doctors’ responses to negative reviews – in most cases this is exactly the scenario that will happen to you if something goes wrong in the treatment. If the doctor does not respond to reviews or responds in a scandalous manner, you should think about visiting him.
Tip: a doctor should not be excluded if he performs complex surgical operations or is the only physician who understands a specific complex disease. Some opinions such as “hardly spoke at the reception” may become a secondary criterion if it is necessary to delicately carry out a complex surgical intervention.
