Every man encounters this problem at least once in his life. It is estimated that in Poland about 2,5 million people suffer from erectile dysfunction. The reasons for this state of affairs are very diverse, but it is worth knowing that this problem indicates not only physical problems, but also mental condition.
An erection is mainly based on the cooperation of the vascular and nervous systems. So you need proper blood flow, mood and attitude. For the vast majority of men, however, the source of such problems is the psyche. The main reasons are:
- Heart trouble – problems in the bedroom may have their source in developing atherosclerosis. When the blood circulates worse, it becomes very difficult to get an erection. In the face of erection problems, it is therefore worth getting tested in this respect, as we may be at risk of a heart attack.
- Stres – work, fatigue, getting up early every day and throwing yourself into the whirl of duties – they are definitely not allies of bed matters. The emotional and mental attitude is of great importance in sex, which is why stress is one of the most common causes of failure. Often, the very awareness that attempts to stimulate a member can end in failure and embarrassment in front of the partner is a stressful factor and causes a blockage.
- Alcohol – although it may initially have a positive effect on libido, as it relaxes and adds energy, its systematic drinking in large quantities leads to problems with the endocrine, nervous and vascular systems.
- Improper nutrition – and lack of exercise are also enemies of an erection. You should not eat too much fat, you should include a lot of vegetables and fruits in your diet, and limit alcohol consumption. In addition, regular physical activity should be introduced, which will improve circulation and condition.
- Cigarettes – ¾ of smokers suffer from impotence. And these are not just empty warnings placed on cigarette packs, but the results of long-term research. Smokers have lower semen volume, fewer sperm. Nicotine also causes vascular changes.
- Not enough testosterone – which is responsible for sex drive. However, it can be treated. Testosterone replacement therapy is effective and safe (if carried out under medical supervision). The hormone or its derivatives are administered intramuscularly to ensure a constant level necessary to maintain libido. The hormone that can completely kill the desire for sex and prevent an erection is prolactin. Its level increases in a situation of permanent stress, so the problem especially affects men who work hard.
- Steroids — self-contained and long-term use of steroids leads to erection problems after discontinuation. Most of them significantly increase the level of testosterone in the blood, which leads to problems with the natural hormonal balance. The excess of externally supplied testosterone blocks the “hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal-testis” mechanism and, consequently, reduces the production of this hormone by the testes.
