7 mistakes even experienced gardeners make

Nobody is perfect, and experienced summer residents also sometimes make annoying mistakes when growing vegetables and fruits.

Top dressing without taking into account the weather

At low air temperatures, fertilization is useless, since nutrients will not enter the roots well. The soil should warm up to at least +10 degrees. It is also important to remember the fertilization schedule. For example, nitrogen fertilization is applied only until the middle of summer. Fast-acting in mid-May, slow-acting in April, organic in autumn. Not all gardeners know that it is important to alternate root and foliar mixtures.

Incorrect dosage and fertilization

An excess of nutrients, as well as their lack, negatively affects the development of plants. Do not fertilize with liquid fertilizers on dry soil. First, it must be moistened with water, otherwise the burn of the soil cannot be avoided.

Untimely cleaning on the site

Plant residues infected with plant pathogens are often simply dug up. As a result, soil infection accumulates. Sick plants must be removed during the entire growing season, burned or buried away from the garden (no closer than 50 m from the site).

Unfortunate neighborhood

You can not plant a number of cultures of the same family. For example, turnips, radishes, cabbage are affected by keels, they need to find places in different parts of the garden.

Violated landing interval

Strong thickening leads to stretching of plants, the death of the lower leaves, a deterioration in air exchange, and damage by pathogens. It is impossible to dive young plants of beets and carrots: you get ugly root crops.

Unjustified processing of insecticides or fungicides

Many summer residents use them when the first single foci of pathogens appear. The use of biological preparations allows not only to preserve beneficial microorganisms, but also to obtain an environmentally friendly harvest. It is better to protect plantings from pests by planting essential oil crops along the border of the site. During flowering, they will attract beneficial insects (entomophages), which protect vegetable crops from aphids, whitefly caterpillars and other pests.

Incorrect watering

Its required depth is 20–30 cm. With a lack of moisture, yield decreases, and with excessive irrigation, roots can rot, as they receive too little oxygen. In addition, plant development is inhibited because minerals are washed out of the soil. It is also worth remembering that even a short-term drought negatively affects the harvest. Its consequences cannot be eliminated even with abundant watering. In dry beds, turnip roots become rough and bitter, radishes, carrots, and beets crack.

Heat-loving plants do not tolerate ice showers. It is better to use rainwater, it contains more oxygen. It is worth watering in the evening, during the night the water will be absorbed into the soil. In the morning, the beds must be loosened and mulched.
